8 Things Everyone Should Know About Sleep Paralysis

image via – Shutterstock.com

We spend about a third of our entire lives asleep in bed. While we’re off doing who knows what in our dreams our bodies are busy at work replenishing and repairing themselves so we’re fresh for the upcoming day. It’s no secret that a good nights rest is critical for optimal mental and physical health, yet for many people it’s hard to come by. For some of them it ends up wasted by a freaky phenomenon called sleep paralysis!

When people get up after sleeping what normally happens is their mind, brain, and body all wake up at the same exact time. Sleep paralysis occurs when the mind awakens first, before the body has a chance to register and wake up. A person experiencing sleep paralysis is able to breathe normally and they can see and understand everything around them, but they cannot move a muscle no matter how hard they try.

The feelings that run through the mind when this type of paralysis occurs can be overwhelming, the whole entire experience is often summed up as simply terrifying. People report that right before they wake up they hear either waves crashing loudly in their head or a very loud bang that jars them awake. They may also have difficulty breathing which feels horrible, as if someone were choking them. Moments like these can last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes or longer.

The sensation of waking up and being unable to move is estimated to affect less than 8% of people. No serious medical risks have been attributed to sleep paralysis in and of itself, but the mental and physical damage it causes show up in the long run. Furthermore, the teen years are when people often experience their first episode and genetic factors may contribute to it. However, the main causes are believed to include stress, sleeping on your back, schedule changes, and an overall lack of sleep.

Back in the day before anyone knew what the heck was really going on it was thought that some type of evil force or demons were behind the strange phenomenon. Once you read these 8 scary facts about sleep paralysis it’ll become much clearer and easy to see why it’s so scary!

1. It feels like a demon is sitting on your chest. The physical sensation is just as bad as the mental and visual ones. It often feels like there is something strange and irritating weighing heavily on your chest. Your eyes are open, you can see that there’s nothing on top of your body, yet it’s as if a ton of bricks are weighing you down.

2. It makes you feel like you’re dead. A majority of those who experience sleep paralysis equate the experience of waking up and not being able to move, while simultaneously being fully mentally awake, to feeling like they’re dead. It’s basically one type of out of body experience that you never ever want to experience.

3. It can happen even when you are trying to fall asleep. Not only does it happen when you wake up, but also when you’re going to bed. That’s because it can occur at two main points in the sleep cycle, when your body transitions between going into and coming out of the REM (deep sleep) stage.

4. There is absolutely no way to force your body to react. You cannot blink, yawn, or do anything physical to make yourself move. Instead, you have to wait for your body to come out of it and this can take anywhere from a few seconds to even several minutes.

5. It can happen to any one of us at any point in our lives. If you haven’t experienced sleep paralysis yet, you likely will in the future because just about everyone has an episode of it. Sometimes people go through it but they are not aware or conscious of the fact that it happened. They either forget or are not strongly affected by it. Either way, if it hasn’t happened to you yet just wait because it probably will in due time.

6. If you already suffer from lack of sleep then it’s much more likely to happen to you. Studies show that people who suffer from chronic sleep issues, such as routinely not getting enough sleep, are more likely to have an episode of sleep paralysis as compared to their well-rested counterparts.

7. Nobody knows for certain what even causes it in the first place. People have suffered from sleep paralysis for just about forever and yet all the science and research in the world have yet to find a definitive cause or explanation as to what may trigger it. It has been a mystery for thousands of years and remains one to this day.

8. Nightmares continue after waking. Many say that immediately upon waking up they feel as if they are caught up in a terrifying living nightmare. This is because they open their eyes and see hallucinations. They know they are awake and mentally conscious but they see things that are not actually there. It’s so real that it’s easy to think you’re still asleep and in the throes of a really bad nightmare.

Vinegar is arguably one of the most useful substances on the planet, at least when it comes to making life in your home easier, less expensive and safer! Why use nasty chemicals that cost an arm and a leg when you can use something that has been proven by time and countless mothers and grandmothers? I personally use vinegar for more things than I can count, and I have known about the wonderful liquid since before I can remember because my mom used it for literally everything. We are going to thoroughly run through some of the best little known vinegar life hacks that will make your life so much easier.

Is your drain clogged? Try pouring baking soda, followed by vinegar, down the drain and watch the magic. Something gooey sticking to your wall? Grab the vinegar and give it a squirt, then easily wipe it away.

Does your trash can smell like garbage, even when it’s empty? Soak a piece of bread in vinegar and leave it in the garbage can overnight, and voila, no more stank. It can also be used as an all-purpose cleaner: just fill up a spray bottle with one third vinegar and two thirds water.

Too many fruit flies? Fill a glass with apple cider vinegar, cover it with plastic wrap, and poke a few holes. The flies enter, but cannot escape. It can even be used to straighten clothes if an iron isn’t available. A few other uses include keeping cats off the furniture, helping cut flowers stay fresh longer, getting tough stains out of pots and pans and cleaning glasses for a smudge-free sheen. Let us know what you think in the comments.

When it comes to cleaning just about everyone loves learning new simple ways to get the same old things done. It can be fun and interesting to discover what nifty and quick solutions people have come up with to solve common problems. This video, from YouTube channel Outdoors and Gear Review highlights a helpful trick for dealing with a common and difficult problem you’re likely to encounter when tidying and cleaning your bathroom up; hard water deposits and stains.

Hard water can be a real pain in the neck and the nasty looking stains and blemishes that it leaves behind on bathroom and kitchen surfaces can be extremely hard to fully remove.  The ugly spots and stains are caused by water that contains large amounts of minerals such as limestone, calcium, and magnesium.

These metals and minerals are naturally occurring, most often in areas with low water tables and mountainous regions, and water that contains them is perfectly safe to use and drink. The biggest downside to it is the crusty, whitish colored mineral deposits and stubborn stains it leaves behind. Over time these gradually build up on stuff, especially faucets and shower heads.

Many people struggle to remove these stains and often think that they need strong, harsh chemical cleaners to get rid of them effectively. However, there’s a better and more affordable way to go about cleaning a shower head with crusted on mineral build up. All you need is apple cider vinegar, a Ziploc bag, and a rubber band.

Simply pour some apple cider vinegar into the plastic bag and place it over and on the shower head. Use a rubber band to secure it in place and then leave it on overnight. Remove the baggy the following day, wipe the shower head clean, and it should be restored to its former glory!

Check out the video for more information and to see just how shiny and spotless looking it turns out. This may be the fastest, easiest, and most natural way to clean hard water stains. It requires minimal effort or exertion on your part so try it the next time you’re stuck cleaning the house!

Check out These 5 Awesome Vaseline Life Hacks Everyone Should Know:

image via – facebook.com

While you may only think of Vaseline as an integral part of your grandmother’s home remedies and go to solutions, it actually really is a product that can seemingly do it all. People use the petroleum based, gooey, slippery substance for all sorts of things. There are countless household and beauty tricks that involve it, whether it’s loosening stuff up or smearing some on minor cuts and burns to help them heal. This article and video focuses on several beauty related uses for the product that may prove useful and come in handy, and will definitely save you time and money.

If you love to paint your nails then you likely have encountered polish bottles with their tops stuck on them. It takes almost superhuman strength to loosen and get them them of when they dry on and stick like that. To prevent this, take a cotton swab and dab some Vaseline around the base of the bottle opening and on the threads where the cap twists on, now it won’t stick the next time you go to open it.

Another nail polish trick is to coat the skin around your nails with some Vaseline before painting them. This will keep the polish from sticking to your skin, cut down on the clean up, and make your paint job look all the more professional.

If you have rough, dry skin on your feet rub a little Vaseline on them before you go to bed. Slather some all over your feet, then put on a pair of socks, and wake up to smooth soft skin. For those of us with sensitive ears that act up and become sore when wearing earrings, try rubbing Vaseline on the metal stud part that goes through your ear.

By coats the earring it helps them slide through and lessens any negative reaction or sensitivity you may have. If the scent of your perfume disappears way too quickly take some Vaseline, apply a thin coat to the area where you plan to spritz it on, then spray the perfume over that area. This works great at holding the fragrance and makes it last much more longer, plus it won’t alter the perfume’s scent.

If you haven’t already, toss a small jar of the wonder product in your bag so it’s always on hand close by. Use it to touch up makeup, soften rough skin, loosen stuck tops and lids, or as a lip gloss/chap-stick stand in when you inevitably lose or misplace them.

Besides being versatile, it’s also widely available and can be found in practically any pharmacy, health, convenience or grocery store around the world. Best of all, Vaseline is relatively cheap and costs only a few dollars, with a jar of it easily lasting a year or two before running out. With Vaseline, the possibilities may just be endless!

The Next Batch of Life Hacks are some incredibly useful winter life hacks that will make your life so much easier this winter:

image via : shutterstock.com

Along with the cold weather, there are a number of special challenges that winter brings along with it, and we all have to just deal with them! Dry skin, chapped lips, stuffy noses, darkness at 4PM, winter storms, the list goes on and on. One of the most annoying things by far is clearing walkways and driveways of snow and ice. The same goes for cars, but while you can often drive through a little bit of snow, you can’t with an ice-covered windshield. Not only is it illegal to drive with an obstructed view, it’s also insanely dumb and extremely dangerous!

While defrosting the car and scraping ice off the windshield seems like a necessary evil, it doesn’t have to be. You really don’t need to wake up extra early just to stumble around in the freezing cold darkness so that you can drive to work. Instead, you can save yourself some time and energy by doing the following:

In a spray bottle container mix together 2 parts isopropyl alcohol with 1 part water and then add in 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap. Shake it up, spray it directly onto an icy windshield, and watch the ice literally melt away right before your very eyes!

This rubbing alcohol spray is the perfect thing to have on hand for freezing cold mornings and icy windshields. You can leave the bottle in your car and it won’t even freeze, unless it gets well under zero. That’s because the freezing point of isopropyl alcohol is -128.2 degrees Fahrenheit, so when you spray it on the ice, it doesn’t freeze up. Instead, it helps to melt the ice and keeps it from re-freezing. Since all you have to do is mist it on, it’s by far the quickest and easiest way to clear a windshield that’s coated with a thick layer of ice.

Don’t forget to check out the video to see exactly how well this works in action and be sure to pass it along to those who could use the smart tip. If it can make someone’s life a little bit easier this winter, then it’s worth it!

This is super helpful for those rough winter months.

Winter is tough. Along with the cold, dry weather comes a number of challenges that we all have to deal with. Cars need to be cleared of snow and ice and the same goes for walkways and driveways. Traveling often becomes way more difficult than usual and to top it off our health also takes a tumble for the worse.

Many of us are plagued by dry itchy skin, sore chapped lips, and stuffy noses that just won’t go away. These things quickly add up and can make it seem like winter is dragging on forever, especially when problems pop up outside on top of the health issues we may be facing.

Which is why these simple winter hacks, covered by the Millennial Moms YouTube channel, are perfect for right now. The video features some of the most clever ways to solve common winter woes and it might offer a solution to a problem you’re currently dealing with. These are some of the best hacks shown in the clip, but there are a total of fifteen, so be sure to check it out for all of the rest.

1) Winterize Boots- This trick does the job to keep feet warm and dry inside of boots that aren’t waterproof. After putting on your socks take two large plastic Ziploc bags and stick a foot in each. Grab a couple of rubber bands and slide them on over the bag to secure it in place and seal the top off around your leg. Pull on your boots and say goodbye to cold, wet feet.

2) Prevent Static Build Up In Hair- Pull a dryer sheet on over the bristles of your hair brush so that they poke through. Brush your hair as normal to eliminate the static, plus it’ll smell clean and great.

3) DIY Boot Inserts- Maintain the shape of tall boots by cutting a foam pool noodle into thirds or fourths, then stick a piece in each boot and they’ll stay upright, making them easier to organize and wear later on.

4) Stop Wipers From Freezing to a Car Windshield- Take an old pair of long cotton socks and slide them over each wiper, puling it down as far as it can go or reaches. This will prevent wipers from freezing and/or sticking to the windshield, and makes life all the more easier.

5) Organize Winter Gear- Hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, hand warmers, neck warmers and all other winter accessories can be neatly stored in one accessible place with a shoe organizer. Hang it over a door and never search for lost gloves again.

6) Windshield Treatment- This one is the best! A combination of vinegar and water works wonders at preventing frost and ice from building up on car windshields and windows. Mix the two liquids up in a spray bottle, spritz it on car windows, then wipe off with a soft cloth.

7) Boot Tray- Keep floors safe, clean, and dry by making your own boot tray. This one is much more appealing than commercially available ones and works even better. Fill a large metal cookie sheet with a layer of decorative rocks and put it near the door so that when people enter they can immediately place wet boots on the rocks. The water will drip through the rocks to the bottom and soon evaporate. Don’t forget to check out the rest of the tips covered in the clip and be sure to pass it along to those who could use these smart hacks to make their own lives easier.

image via : facebook.com

Having your car professionally detailed can easily end up being quite expensive.  While it’s always nice to have a sparkling clean car, it’s even better when you can have it without spending a small fortune.  Thankfully there are all sorts of cheap ways to clean your car with common items that you probably already have around the house. They can do the job just as well, if not even better, than what professional cleaners use.

These are just a few of the handy tricks covered in the accompanying video so be sure to check it out for even more:

Clean your headlights with toothpaste.  Use regular toothpaste, not the gel type, to polish up car headlight lenses by rubbing it on evenly with a cloth.  Move in quick circular motions to then buff it off and you should notice the grime and fogginess disappear.

Remove stubborn old bumper stickers cleanly and completely with WD-40.  Simply spray the sticker with WD-40 and let it sit for a while, the sticker will absorb it, then you can peel it right off.

Remove pet fur from carpets and seats with a spray bottle, water, and a squeegee.  Spray the water on the seat and then move the squeegee over the area, it will gather and lift up the hair so you can easily pick it up.

Clean air vents with small foam brushes.  They can easily fit in even the smallest vents and pick up all the dirt and dust inside them.

Use coffee filters to dust your car dashboard.  Unlike cloth towels and paper towels, coffee filters won’t leave behind lint or just push dust around.  Instead they work great at picking up dust and you can toss a few in the glove compartment for whenever you might need one to freshen up the dash.

Get streak free windows by cleaning them with newspaper.  It’s the cloths and paper towels that leave streaks when you clean your windows so don’t even bother using them.  Instead, spray down the window with cleaner and wipe it off with a piece of newspaper as you normally would.

Get rid of stubborn, lingering odors by sprinkling baking soda on car seats and carpets.  Let it sit for a couple of hours before vacuuming it up. The baking soda should absorb the foul odors, leaving your car smelling fresh and clean.

There are even more clean car tips covered in the video and it might just have the solution you’ve been looking for so be sure to check it out!

How Many Hours Of Sleep Do You Actually Need Every Night According To Your Age?

image via – shutterstock.com

Most of us spend around one third of our lives sleeping. That is based on the idea that, on average, people get about 8 hours of sleep each and every night. However, averages do not represent everyone and lots of people do not get the recommend amount of nightly shut eye. There is nothing worse than crawling into a warm, comfortable bed and not being able to fall asleep. It can be pure torture. If you have ever stayed up all night staring at the clock, watching the minutes tick slowly by, then you know the dreadful feeling.

It’s a well known fact that not getting enough sleep each and every night can be horrible for our mental and physical well-being. Studies have determined that people who often sleep less than 7 hours a night are slower to react and show marked signs of decreased cognitive functioning.

Over time, the effects of a chronic lack of sleep add up, leading to further health issues. Individuals who consistently get less than seven hours of sleep a night are at risk for higher rates of diabetes, obesity, and other health disorders. In fact, they’re even more likely to die earlier than those who get an average of 8 or more hours of sleep each night.

There’s no shortage of studies or information out there on the topic of sleep and this video covers some really interesting findings on how much of it you actually need. As we grow up, the different stages of our lives factor in heavily and affect the amount we should aim to get at different age intervals.

Below is as general breakdown of how many hours of sleep you need each and every night, according to the National Institute of Sleep:

0-3 months old (Newborns) – Between 14 and 17 hours each night – 4-11 months old (Infants) –12 to 15 hours – 1-2 years old (Toddlers) – 11 to 14 hours – 3-5 years old (Preschools) – 10 to 13 hours – 6-12 years old (Adolescents) – 9 to 11 hours – 13-17 years old (Teens) – 8 to 10 hours – 18 – 25 years old (Young Adults) – 7 to 9 hours – 26-64 years old (Adults) – 7 to 9 hours – 65 + (Seniors) – 7 to 8 hours

I thought everyone just needed 8 hours. Did you know about this? Let us know!

This Is What Happens To Your Body If You Sleep On Your Left Side Every Night For a Month.

image via – shutterstock.com

After a long day of working, running around, and being on your feet, nothing beats getting home to your nice comfy bed. For many of us, our bedrooms are our sanctuaries, it’s where we can fully unwind, let our guard down, and relax. It’s also the one place where the vast majority of our lives are spent. That’s because the average person sleeps for about eight hours a day. Over a lifetime this amounts to spending about one third of our total lives asleep.

While it’s common knowledge that a good nights rest is vitally important for maintaining our health and wellness, both mentally and physically, it’s not so well known that the position you sleep in can also greatly affect your health.

There are many different ways that people like and prefer to sleep in. The most common seems to be on either the left or the right side, on your back, and curled up in the fetal position. Each and every position affects your health in different ways that can be either good or bad. For example, sleeping on the back can be dangerous for people who have asthma and/or sleep apnea because it increases the risks associated with breathing difficulties. Alternatively, sleeping on ones right side can aggravate digestive problems and end up making them a lot worse. These negative effects and issues lead to not only lower quality sleep, but also less amounts of it.

The one side to sleep on, that is far and away better than all of the other sleep positions in terms of the benefits it has on our bodily health, is the left side. Sleeping on the left side can do many things, including helping us digest better and easier. It improves the overall digestive system by allowing the body to extract nutrients and dispose of toxins faster and more efficiently. In addition, it also affects our circulation and cardiovascular health because the heart is better able to pump downhill and the blood circulates more efficiently back to the heart.

Furthermore, the left side position also allows for bile and wastes to travel more freely through the body and helps improve spleen function. This results in better lymphatic drainage and more toxins leaving the body, with less overall stress and negative impacts to our health. Dr. John Douillard explains these benefits in greater detail and covers much more in the accompanying video. It’s incredible how much of a difference the position that you sleep in can have on your body.

If you are not sleeping on your left side already, you should try to make the switch as soon as possible. We each have a habitual, preferred way to slumber and it can be hard to break that habit, but it is possible to change with a few minor adjustments. You can train your body to sleep on the left side by switching on a light that’s located on the right side of where you sleep. Your body will naturally want to face away from the light source and thus you’ll turn on to the left side. There are lots of other ways that people have used to effectively change sleep positions, you just have to find out which one will likely work for you. If sleeping on the left side improves health and promotes better sleep, why wouldn’t you want to do it!

Apparently You Should Always Go To Sleep On Your Left Side. The Reason Is Brilliant!

Sleep. We all need it and yet for many of us a good nights rest is hard to come by. There are a multitude of reasons as to why someone may be having trouble sleeping. Everything from stress to diet, exercise, and our overall general health has some type of impact on the quality and quantity we’re able to get!

While it’s common knowledge that sleeping is vitally crucial, as it keeps us mentally and physically balanced, it’s not so well known that the position we tend to sleep in can also greatly affect our health. People sleep in all sorts of different positions, the most common being on either the back, right side, left side, or curled up in the fetal position. Some of these ways can end up impacting us negatively, such as sleeping on one’s right side. This position can actually worsen and aggravate digestive problems and lead to other health issues that lower our quality of sleep.

The absolute best position you can sleep in is on your left side. In terms of the overall benefits that it has on bodily health, it’s better than every single one of the alternative ways in which we can rest our weary bodies! Below are some of the positive impacts that laying on your left side can result in:

Improved Digestion- when you sleep on your left side your body is in a position where it’s better able to efficiently dispose of the nasty, unwanted toxins that build up inside it during the day. At the same time, it’s also able to extract and use the nutrients your body needs to function its best, both faster and more efficiently as well.

Improved Cardiovascular Health and Circulation- You put less stress on your heart and cardiovascular system when you lay on your left side because the heart is essentially pumping blood through your body in a downhill manner. Your heart doesn’t have to work so hard because the blood flows more efficiently this way, which leads to better overall circulation and less strain in general.

Improved Lymphatic Drainage and Spleen Function- Many of us overlook how important it is to eliminate the toxins, wastes, and unwanted or unusable substances that build up inside our bodies over time. Sleeping on the left side helps to facilitate their removal because bile and other types of wastes are able to travel more freely through our bodies via this position. In the end, this leads to increased lymphatic drainage and thus more toxins leaving our bodies, all while keeping the stress and impact on our system at a minimum.

To hear and learn more about all of the above benefits in much greater detail be sure to check out the accompanying video. In it Dr. John Douillard goes over and explains each one of them comprehensively and covers how sleeping on your left side can make a huge difference in your life. If sleeping on the left side can improve your health in more than just one way, plus lead to better overall sleep, there’s no excuse for not laying down that way! If you don’t sleep on the left side already then try making the switch tonight!

The Strange and Surprising Reason Why People Unexpectedly Twitch As They Try To Fall Asleep!

image via – shutterstock.com

Do you know what I love?  Getting answers to questions that you have always wondered about, but never thought to ask!

The video below, that you are about to watch, explains the fascinating theories related to the strange phenomenon that we have all experienced throughout our lives; that sudden jerking movement or FEELING OF FALLING, as you are going from consciousness into sleep.

So, What is that all about?  This scary, loss of control feeling, of trying to avoid falling, is referred to as a ‘hypnic jerk’ or ‘sleep start’.  Although many doctors believe this is just an “almost asleep” transition from wakefulness into unconsciousness, there are really interesting reasons to explain this transition.

The video explains the theories that have to do with the brain defending against the paralytic state of our organs, that keep us from running around when we sleep, in the transitional period.

As it is noted that this phenomenon occurs early on, when we are babies, the ‘hypnic jerk’ may be a developmental feature that we go through to learn how to control our limbs.

Our brains may continue to register this as a failing of our organs, as we get older, and continues to compensate by jerking us awake.  There is even a theory that incorporates our primate ancestors, the apes, as the origins of this bizarre phenomenon.

These and other explanations are explained in detail in the following footage, which I found to be really fascinating.

Watch the video below for further information. Let us know what you think.

Have You Woken Up Unable To Move? Here’s 8 Strange Scary and Intriguing Things You Should Know About Sleep Paralysis.

image via – shutterstock.com

The average person sleeps for around eight hours a day. Over a lifetime this amounts to spending about one third of life asleep. It’s common knowledge that a good nights rest is vitally important for maintaining health and balance, both mentally and physically. Giving yourself a chance to rest, rejuvenate, replenish and have a deep sleep comes easy for some. However, for some people a good night’s sleep is hard to come by, or it ends up being ruined, by a strange phenomenon that is called sleep paralysis.

It happens when your mind wakes up before your body ever gets a chance to. You can breathe normally, you can see and understand everything around you, but you can’t move a muscle no matter how hard you try. The feelings that run through your mind when sleep paralysis occurs are overwhelming and the whole experience can be summed up as terrifying.

Many people report that right before waking they hear a loud bang or waves crashing in their head which suddenly jars them awake. Others report that they do in fact have difficulty breathing and that it feels as if someone were choking them. These moments can last from a few seconds to several minutes or longer and most commonly show up initially during one’s teenage years.

The sensation of waking up and not being able to move is thought to affect less than 8% of the general population. There are no serious risks attributed to sleep paralysis on its own, medically speaking, rather the mental and physical damage may occur in the long run.

While there may be genetic factors that contribute to it, the main causes are thought to be a lack of sleep, schedule changes, and sleeping on ones back. Back in earlier times it used to be thought that demons or evil forces were behind the strange phenomenon and it’s easy to see why. Here are 8 terrifying facts about it:

1) No one knows for sure what causes it- Science and researchers have yet to find a definitive cause or explanation as to what may trigger it. It has been a mystery for thousands of years and to this day it remains one.

2) It feels like you’re dead- Many people equate the experience of waking up and being unable to move, while fully mentally awake, to feeling like they’re dead. Basically, it’s a type of out of body experience that you never want to experience.

3) It can happen when you’re trying to fall asleep- It doesn’t only occur when you wake up. It can occur at two points in the sleep cycle when your body transitions between going into, and coming out of, the REM (deep sleep) stage.

4) If you suffer from a lack of sleep it’s more likely to happen to you- Studies have indicated that individuals who suffer from chronic sleep issues, and who routinely don’t get enough sleep, are more likely to have an episode of sleep paralysis than their well-rested counterparts.

5) Your nightmare may continue- A lot of people have reported that they feel like they’re in a living nightmare even after they wake up because they open their eyes and see hallucinations. They are mentally alert and know they are awake, but their minds and eyes see things that aren’t there, and it’s all too freakishly real.

6) It can feel like a demon is sitting on your chest- A common description given of what it feels like is that there is something heavy and bothersome weighing on your chest. Yikes!

7) There is no way to wake your body up- You literally have to wait for your body to snap out if it. No cough or blink will wake you, contrary to some beliefs.

8) It can happen to anybody- You may have already experienced it at some point in your life, not everyone is aware that it happened, and practically everyone will go through it at least once over the course of their lifetime.
