Hurt Bear Brings Dying Baby Bear To This Guy

The age old adage to never turn your back on a bear is well known to those who spend a lot of time outdoors in bear country. While excellent advice, it isn’t always possible to heed it, and for one man fishing on a fateful day, such was the case.
Shaun had been at his favorite spot looking to reel in dinner but hadn’t had much luck catching anything, so he decided to head home. As he made his way through the woods he suddenly came upon a huge black bear. A seasoned outdoorsman, he knew that he shouldn’t turn his back on the bear or run away. Instead, he tried to make himself as large and intimidating as possible by raising his arms high to try and get the bear to leave him alone. The bear responded by sitting on its back legs, sniffing the air. This behavior meant the bear was curious about him, which was better than the possible alternative, and gave him the opportunity to try and slip away.
Keeping his eyes on the bear, Shaun slowly began to move away. However, she began crying and moaning in a way that seemed to express great distress. The haunting sounds made him look closer at the animal and that’s when he noticed it was bleeding from deep wounds on its side and front paw. It dawned on him that this must be the bear he had noticed earlier on his way to the fishing spot. He had seen a mother bear and cub playing in the water. It was a memorable sight that made him smile, but if this was the mama bear, where was her cub?
Seeing something was clearly amiss, Shaun quickly made his way back to the river with the bear following closely behind. He no longer felt threatened by the animal and rather than fear, he felt solidarity with her. Back at the bank, he spotted the cub in the river. It looked like it was stuck clinging to some rocks in fast flowing water that kept pushing its head under water. The mother must’ve tried to rescue her baby and gotten injured, now it was up to him to try and rescue the cub.
Knowing how fast and dangerous the current was, Shaun devised a plan to get the cub without drowning himself. He quickly laid out his fishing gear and took some rope, trying it around himself and leaving a long piece dangling in front of him, before tying the other end to a sturdy tree near the river edge. Then he jumped in the water and swam out towards where he’d last seen the cub, kicking and fighting the swift current to get to the rocky spot. Being a former Navy Seal, he was the best man for the job, but even still, the rushing water was almost overpowering him.
Once he reached some rocks, Shaun took a moment to re-orient and see where the cub was. He spotted the baby not too far away downstream and was about to go for him when the little bear suddenly lost its grip and was swept even further downstream. Knowing that it was now or never, Shaun kicked off a large rock and swam as hard as he could towards the cub who was now beginning to disappear under the water. The baby was clearly exhausted and seemed to be giving up. To make matters worse the rope was getting tight, but just as the cub went under again, Shaun reached for him and managed to grab ahold!
Seconds later, the rope violently jerked them back but since the cub wasn’t struggling, he managed to keep his grip. Now he needed to get them safely back to shore but had to do a tricky maneuver first to free his hands and arms up. Treading water, he took the piece of rope he’d left clear in front of him and tied it securely around the cub who was now motionless in dire shape.
All the while, the mama bear was crying and pacing the riverbank. Shaun worried how she’d react when he came ashore with her injured cub but forced himself to focus on getting there first. Working off pure adrenaline, he swam sideways towards the shore with all the energy he had left. When he felt the sandy bottom, he knew he’d be able to walk to safety but as he stood, he saw the mama bear running straight at him. He had to get the rope off the cub before she reached him, which he managed to do just in time. The mama bear grabbed her cub and whisked him away, leaving Shaun laying on the riverbank exhausted and soaking wet.
Moments later, he heard the mother bears anguished cries once again, before he spotted her coming towards him with her limp cub’s body. She softly placed her baby near him before moving off a ways, as if to give him room to try and save it. Listening for a heartbeat, he heard a faint one, and began CPR. After what seemed like forever, the cub started coughing and moving, it was breathing and alive! Shaun moved away from the baby as its mother came over to check on it and he felt like the ordeal was over, but he was wrong.
Several minutes later as the bears were walking off, Shaun noticed the mother was unsteady. Suddenly, she fell over with a huge thud and laid motionless on the ground. It was then that he noticed she had huge gashes all over her body and had likely lost a lot of blood. Miles away from cell service or his cabin and exhausted, he didn’t know what to do. The baby cub was scampering all over its mother, as if it was trying to wake her up, and all this just broke Shaun’s heart.
It was then that he heard the familiar sound of an engine, so he shouted for help. Forrest rangers emerged from the trees and immediately set to work trying to help save the mother bear. They had been alerted to the situation by some hikers who had seen Shaun in the river rescuing the cub. They’d run to call for help which had arrived just in time with the right equipment for the job.
The rangers bandaged the unresponsive mama bear’s wounds and moved her to a crate before bringing her and her baby to a wildlife hospital that could properly care for them. Shaun got a ride back to his cabin and as happy as he was about the outcome, he still worried about what would happen to the bears.
He decided to visit them at the hospital the following day and when he saw the extent of the mama bear’s injuries, he marveled at how she had endured all the pain and blood loss for her cub, who was also still very weak and resting. It took a while, as the mother had to overcome infections in her wounds, but the pair healed to the point where they could be safely released back into the wild.
Shaun had visited them almost daily and was there to see the moment they were let go in the forest. Once the cage doors were opened the mama bear ran off, while the cub stayed and looked back at the people who had helped them, before running off when his mother called. It was a bittersweet moment for him, as Shaun felt connected to the bear family, but he was happy to see them back in their home.
A week or so later, Shaun was out on his porch sipping coffee when he noticed a mama bear and her cub sunning themselves at the edge of the forest. The mama bear had shorter patches of fur, so he knew it was them. He’d also end up seeing them often at the river. While he kept a safe, respectful distance, he nonetheless felt a close, spiritual connection to them that never went away.

It is wonderful to have our homes smell good, and scented candles became very popular over the last decade. That is, until it was discovered that many of these candles and scented sprays contain really dangerous chemicals, that can cause permanent lung damage.
I, myself, have stopped using those candles that I used to love, because of the inherent health hazard they carry. I’m always looking for natural alternatives that are chemical free, to provide a nice fresh smell in my home. When I came upon this DIY video for creating a natural air freshener I was intrigued.
The video below is a great tutorial for how to easily, inexpensively and quickly make your own fresh and chemical-free deodorizer. Two alternative versions are demonstrated, which differ slightly in how they release the fragrance.
For both versions, all you will need are: a MASON JAR WITH A TIN LID, HAMMER, FORK, EMPTY CANDLE CONTAINER, SCREWDRIVER, BAKING SODA AND SOME ESSENTIAL OIL. The DIY is easy to follow, and gives you a great means to slow-release a pleasant scent into any room in your home.

Does your trash can smell like garbage, even when it’s empty? Soak a piece of bread in vinegar and leave it in the garbage can overnight, and voila, no more stank. It can also be used as an all-purpose cleaner: just fill up a spray bottle with one third vinegar and two thirds water.
Too many fruit flies? Fill a glass with apple cider vinegar, cover it with plastic wrap, and poke a few holes. The flies enter, but cannot escape. It can even be used to straighten clothes if an iron isn’t available. A few other uses include keeping cats off the furniture, helping cut flowers stay fresh longer, getting tough stains out of pots and pans and cleaning glasses for a smudge-free sheen. Hard water can be a real pain in the neck and the nasty looking stains and blemishes that it leaves behind on bathroom and kitchen surfaces can be extremely hard to fully remove. The ugly spots and stains are caused by water that contains large amounts of minerals such as limestone, calcium, and magnesium.
These metals and minerals are naturally occurring, most often in areas with low water tables and mountainous regions, and water that contains them is perfectly safe to use and drink. The biggest downside to it is the crusty, whitish colored mineral deposits and stubborn stains it leaves behind. Over time these gradually build up on stuff, especially faucets and shower heads.
Many people struggle to remove these stains and often think that they need strong, harsh chemical cleaners to get rid of them effectively. However, there’s a better and more affordable way to go about cleaning a shower head with crusted on mineral build up. All you need is apple cider vinegar, a Ziploc bag, and a rubber band.
Simply pour some apple cider vinegar into the plastic bag and place it over and on the shower head. Use a rubber band to secure it in place and then leave it on overnight. Remove the baggy the following day, wipe the shower head clean, and it should be restored to its former glory!

If you have rough, dry skin on your feet rub a little Vaseline on them before you go to bed. Slather some all over your feet, then put on a pair of socks, and wake up to smooth soft skin. For those of us with sensitive ears that act up and become sore when wearing earrings, try rubbing Vaseline on the metal stud part that goes through your ear.
By coats the earring it helps them slide through and lessens any negative reaction or sensitivity you may have. If the scent of your perfume disappears way too quickly take some Vaseline, apply a thin coat to the area where you plan to spritz it on, then spray the perfume over that area. This works great at holding the fragrance and makes it last much more longer, plus it won’t alter the perfume’s scent.
If you haven’t already, toss a small jar of the wonder product in your bag so it’s always on hand close by. Use it to touch up makeup, soften rough skin, loosen stuck tops and lids, or as a lip gloss/chap-stick stand in when you inevitably lose or misplace them.
Besides being versatile, it’s also widely available and can be found in practically any pharmacy, health, convenience or grocery store around the world. While defrosting the car and scraping ice off the windshield seems like a necessary evil, it doesn’t have to be. Instead, you can save yourself some time and energy by doing the following:
In a spray bottle container mix together 2 parts isopropyl alcohol with 1 part water and then add in 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap. Shake it up, spray it directly onto an icy windshield, and watch the ice literally melt away right before your very eyes!
This rubbing alcohol spray is the perfect thing to have on hand for freezing cold mornings and icy windshields. You can leave the bottle in your car and it won’t even freeze, unless it gets well under zero. That’s because the freezing point of isopropyl alcohol is -128.2 degrees Fahrenheit, so when you spray it on the ice, it doesn’t freeze up. Instead, it helps to melt the ice and keeps it from re-freezing. Since all you have to do is mist it on, it’s by far the quickest and easiest way to clear a windshield that’s coated with a thick layer of ice.

1) Winterize Boots- This trick does the job to keep feet warm and dry inside of boots that aren’t waterproof. After putting on your socks take two large plastic Ziploc bags and stick a foot in each. 3) DIY Boot Inserts- Maintain the shape of tall boots by cutting a foam pool noodle into thirds or fourths, then stick a piece in each boot and they’ll stay upright, making them easier to organize and wear later on.
4) Stop Wipers From Freezing to a Car Windshield- Take an old pair of long cotton socks and slide them over each wiper, puling it down as far as it can go or reaches. This will prevent wipers from freezing and/or sticking to the windshield, and makes life all the more easier.
5) Organize Winter Gear- Hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, hand warmers, neck warmers and all other winter accessories can be neatly stored in one accessible place with a shoe organizer. Hang it over a door and never search for lost gloves again.
6) Windshield Treatment- This one is the best! A combination of vinegar and water works wonders at preventing frost and ice from building up on car windshields and windows. Mix the two liquids up in a spray bottle, spritz it on car windows, then wipe off with a soft cloth.
7) Boot Tray- Keep floors safe, clean, and dry by making your own boot tray. This one is much more appealing than commercially available ones and works even better. Fill a large metal cookie sheet with a layer of decorative rocks and put it near the door so that when people enter they can immediately place wet boots on the rocks. The water will drip through the rocks to the bottom and soon evaporate. Clean your headlights with toothpaste. Use regular toothpaste, not the gel type, to polish up car headlight lenses by rubbing it on evenly with a cloth. Move in quick circular motions to then buff it off and you should notice the grime and fogginess disappear.
Remove stubborn old bumper stickers cleanly and completely with WD-40. Simply spray the sticker with WD-40 and let it sit for a while, the sticker will absorb it, then you can peel it right off.
Remove pet fur from carpets and seats with a spray bottle, water, and a squeegee. Spray the water on the seat and then move the squeegee over the area, it will gather and lift up the hair so you can easily pick it up.
Clean air vents with small foam brushes. They can easily fit in even the smallest vents and pick up all the dirt and dust inside them.
Use coffee filters to dust your car dashboard. Unlike cloth towels and paper towels, coffee filters won’t leave behind lint or just push dust around. Instead they work great at picking up dust and you can toss a few in the glove compartment for whenever you might need one to freshen up the dash.
Get streak free windows by cleaning them with newspaper. It’s the cloths and paper towels that leave streaks when you clean your windows so don’t even bother using them. Instead, spray down the window with cleaner and wipe it off with a piece of newspaper as you normally would.
Get rid of stubborn, lingering odors by sprinkling baking soda on car seats and carpets. Let it sit for a couple of hours before vacuuming it up. The baking soda should absorb the foul odors, leaving your car smelling fresh and clean.

Cheetah Births Five Tiny Cubs

When practically any wild animal gives birth, they are extremely protective of their newborn babies. Mothers are renowned for going above and beyond to keep their little ones safe and cheetahs are no different. When Milani, a cheetah at the Metro Richmond Zoo in Virginia, gave birth to five tiny cubs, all of her caretakers were on high alert. This is her story.
Milani was a first time mother and had been through a lot in her three years on Earth. Born in Namibia, she had been captured by poachers who planned to sell her in the illegal exotic animal trade. Thankfully, she was rescued before they could profit off of her misfortune and sent to the Metro Richmond Zoo for rehabilitation. The zoo is known world-wide for their cheetah conservation and research center, where teams of experts collaborate to focus on maintaining the health, population numbers, and overall well-being of cheetahs. Through the center’s work, the number of cheetahs has recovered from all-time lows after dropping 90% and stabilized. However, it took years to accomplish this and back when Milani arrived at the center, the situation was still dire.
Milani was healthy and in the prime of her life, so the conservation center was eager for her to have cubs with one of the six male cheetahs who lived alongside her. However, she showed little to no interest in any of them and was more of a loner who preferred to explore and be on her own. Despite the expert’s best efforts, she shunned all her male suitors, until a new cheetah named Beau arrived. Beau was also from Namibia, and it was believed that Milani knew him from her time in the wild. When they were introduced to one another, it became clear that she liked him as she accepted him into her territory and even rubbed up against him! Her caretakers were ecstatic at the development and waited to see if the pair would mate.
It didn’t take long before Milani’s stomach started to grow, and an ultrasound confirmed that she was carrying five cubs. The elation at this news was soon replaced by worry and fear because Milani had suffered from a large wound to her tummy when she was in captivity that ran down her chest. She likely had internal damage from this and as her cubs grew, they pressed up against her intestines interfering with their function and making for a risky and difficult pregnancy. At this point in time, the cheetah population was at record lows and so a decision was made to see out her pregnancy despite the risks involved.
Now heavily pregnant, Milani was moved into a special enclosure where she was monitored 24/7 by experts. Despite all the care she received, she slowly grew weaker and at times even refused to eat anything. Her attitude changed as well, she became much more aggressive, weary, and seemed on edge, even charging at a zookeeper who went to feed her on one occasion. This led to her being classified as a high risk animal who had to be handled with added caution. It also meant caring for her was going to be much harder, as what little trust she had towards humans seemed to be rapidly dwindling.
The more pregnant she grew, the more nervous she became, and special arrangements were made to keep her as relaxed and happy as possible. A small wooden enclosure was built in her area, giving her a comfy, dark, safe space to give birth in. Just days later Milani began having contractions and silently entered the box, with experts watching over her from a live video feed. The birth of her cubs was long and stressful, but she came through it with all five cubs being born.
The moment everyone had been waiting for had finally arrived and now they had to check on the cubs and Milani. A young vet who had a good relationship with Milani was chosen to enter the enclosure and he was extremely nervous about what might happen. There was no way of knowing how she’d react to someone approaching her newborn cubs while she was in such a vulnerable state. The vet slowly made his way towards her and surprisingly Milani rolled over, showed him her cubs, and allowed him to handle and inspect them.
Once he’d checked on Milani, who appeared healthy yet obviously exhausted, he began running tests on each cub checking their vitals, weight, and eyes. When he got to the fifth born cub, he could tell it wasn’t ok, it had a larger than usual head and wasn’t a heathy weight. He left them to rest, and later tests confirmed it suffered from a birth defect, but soon afterwards the cub began having trouble breathing. Not wasting any time, the young vet went back into the enclosure and scooped up the baby, rushing it to an adjoining medical tent. The cub was fading rapidly and despite all possible measures that were taken, its prognosis was dire. The defects were too severe, it was suffering, there was simply no way it would have a normal healthy life, and a decision was made to humanely euthanize it.
Thankfully, Milani and her other four cubs were healthy. She turned out to be a great mother and her cubs grew up quickly. She even started to trust some of the zookeepers, bonding and growing close with the one who first checked on her cubs. Three years later, it turned out she was pregnant again!
For her second pregnancy, she was one of three cheetahs at the center who were pregnant. Two others, Vaila and Waiy, were first time mothers and Vaila was turning out to be aggressive towards her keepers as her pregnancy progressed. Being the oldest and largest female, Milani demanded respect and used it to help out the zookeepers. When Vaila acted out and snarled menacingly at a vet, Milani loudly yelped, bared her teeth, and put the younger cheetah in her place.
Other more pressing issues faced the vets, as they needed to prepare for the 3 births and more than 10 expected cubs. Enclosures had to be built, surveillance set up, checkups performed, and round the clock monitoring was put in place. The vet who had first approached Milani after she gave birth was in charge and was personally overseeing Vaila because she was expecting seven cubs, making her the most at risk.
Over eleven days, the teams oversaw the birth of thirteen cubs. Milani had 3, Waiy had 5, and Vaila had 5 that survived. Sadly, Vaila ended up losing two cubs to similar breathing problems that Milani’s cub had suffered from. These new additions are crucial to cheetah recovery, as only some 7,500 remain in the wild. The greater genetic diversity, the healthier the numbers will be. Not to mention all the publicity that the thirteen baby cheetah cubs brought to the conservation program, enabling their efforts to grow and continue on.
In the past 10 years, over 90 cheetah cubs have been born at the center. This led to the change from their designation as endangered to vulnerable, so there are still a lot of pressing issues facing them. However, their recovery can be attributed in major part thanks to Milani and her cubs.

The video below is a great tutorial for how to easily, inexpensively and quickly make your own fresh and chemical-free deodorizer. Two alternative versions are demonstrated, which differ slightly in how they release the fragrance.

In a spray bottle container mix together 2 parts isopropyl alcohol with 1 part water and then add in 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap. Shake it up, spray it directly onto an icy windshield, and watch the ice literally melt away right before your very eyes!
This rubbing alcohol spray is the perfect thing to have on hand for freezing cold mornings and icy windshields. You can leave the bottle in your car and it won’t even freeze, unless it gets well under zero. That’s because the freezing point of isopropyl alcohol is -128.2 degrees Fahrenheit, so when you spray it on the ice, it doesn’t freeze up. Instead, it helps to melt the ice and keeps it from re-freezing. Since all you have to do is mist it on, it’s by far the quickest and easiest way to clear a windshield that’s coated with a thick layer of ice.

7) Boot Tray- Keep floors safe, clean, and dry by making your own boot tray. This one is much more appealing than commercially available ones and works even better. Tiger Bows To Little Girl

When new parents Andrea and Connor decided to treat their young daughter, Mandy, to a trip to the zoo, they had no idea how meaningful the trip would turn out. Even though Mandy was still young and just learning how to talk, they had already been to the zoo several times. The youngster couldn’t get enough of the animals and her parent’s excitement to show her all of them meant it was a no brainer to go.
As soon as they arrived, Mandy made it clear she wanted to go and see the tigers. They were her favorite animals and she had even brought her plushie toy tiger along for the trip. Once inside the gates the little girl made a beeline for the big cat enclosure, excitedly running ahead of her parents. When they finally joined her, Andrea and Connor noticed there was a new tiger in the habitat. It was a beautiful Bengal tiger that sat towards the back on a rock, just within sight, so Mandy didn’t notice it right away.
The tiger enclosure was quite large and big enough to afford the tigers privacy if they wished to be out of sight from visitors. It also featured huge walls of safety glass for people to view the big cats safely behind. Benches and seating areas were scattered around, and Mandy’s parents sat down on one close by while she ran back and forth in front of the glass excitedly greeting each tiger and saying hello.
A sign detailing the new tiger said that its name was Koshi, and as soon as Koshi spotted Mandy he slowly made his way forward towards her. Once he reached the glass he stopped and sat, his gaze settling on the little girl. There were many other children in the area and several of them tried to get Koshi’s attention, but he only paid attention to Mandy. When she noticed the tiger watching her, she finally stopped running around and stood still right in front of him, meeting his gaze.
That’s when Koshi placed his paws up on the glass and jumped a bit, his massive body fully stretched out, as if he here trying to reach out to. All the other kids nervously moved back a bit, but Mandy stayed still and continued watching Koshi in awe. She walked forward right up to the glass and put her hands up on it to where Koshi’s paws were, the tiger then bowed his head down to her, and for a moment time seemed to stand still.
Right after this happened, other kids tried to get Koshi’s attention hoping for a repeat of what he did with Mandy, but the tiger was completely uninterested in anyone else. Instead, as Mandy continued to run along the glass, he followed her. Initially Andrea and Connor thought perhaps the tiger was stalking their daughter, but upon looking closely at his eyes, Andrea could only see sadness. Their little game of cat and mouse continued on but as time passed the viewing area became crowded. Mandy’s parents tried to get her to be respectful of others so they could enjoy the tigers too, but she was just too excited and full of energy. Andrea sensed some disapproving looks and noticed a zookeeper staring at them, so she decided to steer Mandy away so they could visit all the other animals.
The zoo was very spacious and focused on keeping both animals and visitors safe and happy. With a focus on conservation and education, there were a variety of enrichment programs that had been set up. Visitors were also given opportunities to safely interact with some of the animals, and that day Mandy was able to feed ostriches and a giraffe.
After eating lunch and visiting some newborn baby gorillas, Mandy could only talk about one thing: Koshi. She wanted to go back and see him, so towards the end of the day they returned to the no longer crowded tiger enclosure. Koshi was in the back on his rock again, looking sad. Upon seeing him, Mandy called out his name and immediately the tiger’s ears perked up. He spotted the little girl and ran towards the glass, then he sat in front of her and bowed his head down once again. It was a beautiful sight, but also somewhat strange and perplexing. Why had the tiger done this and why only with Mandy? Soon they would learn the sad reason.
A zookeeper who Connor had noticed was watching them throughout the day approached the couple, eager to explain why he believed the tiger was reacting to their daughter in this manner. He was the head zookeeper named Sam and he worked with the tigers very closely. He explained how Koshi had been rescued several months earlier from a poaching and animal trafficking ring where he’d been kept by a man as a pet. In order to prevent him from hurting anyone, his captor had tied him up in heavy chains and de-clawed him. De-clawing any cat is extremely painful and the cat will be affected by the barbaric surgery for the rest of their life. De-clawed cats are traumatized by it, and many have behavioral issues stemming from the pain. It should be banned and outlawed everywhere.
While in pain and captivity, Koshi had been tended to by a housekeeper’s young daughter That little girl treated him right, made sure he ate, always had fresh water, and would even place her head against his in order to comfort him. She was the one positive thing in his life, and this was most likely why Koshi had been bowing his head on the glass towards Mandy.
When the police raided the captor’s estate, they confiscated Koshi and reached out to the zoo to re-home him. The zoo learned of the housekeeper’s daughter and her bond with the tiger and offered her to come visit him whenever she wished, but she lived far away so was unable to regularly see him. While he was a young, calmer cat who fit in with the other tigers, he was also deeply depressed and spent his days lying by himself, ignoring everyone, and barely eating anything. The spark that Sam noticed when he saw Koshi interact with Mandy was the first positive sign he’d seen from the tiger since his arrival months ago.
The zookeeper was excited by this new development. Now he knew just how much the tiger needed that unspeakable connection to the young girl and how Mandy must’ve reminded him of it. He asked Mandy’s parents if they could come back regularly to interact with the tiger and help draw him out of his depression. Wanting to do anything and everything, he gave them a zoo pass and told them they could come in early so Koshi and Mandy could play alone.
Being animal lovers and wanting to help, Mandy’s parents took him up on the offer and brought her to see Koshi often. Slowly but surely his depression lifted and eventually Koshi went on to play and interact with his fellow tigers.
Over the years that followed, Mandy’s connection with Koshi and the many other zoo animals she interacted with only grew stronger. She found her life’s calling and ended up becoming a veterinarian at the zoo where she works to this day. It’s beautiful how they each changed the others’ life for the better and helped in ways that are still playing out.

Girl Helps Cheetah That Is Very Sick

Cheetahs have developed a reputation for being among the friendliest big cats in the animal kingdom. Like cats of all sizes, the sleek felines are naturally curious and have been known to approach, and even socialize with, humans in the wild. This is even more true of those born in captivity. While still wild animals at heart, cheetahs can and often do form very strong bonds with people.
For Olga, a woman living in Russia, becoming close friends with a cheetah was the last thing she expected to experience in life. However, one day as she worked at the local zoo, she got word that a male cheetah named Ishel had arrived. Olga had been awaiting the big cat and had spent the prior months setting up a new habitat for him to call home. Finally the day had arrived!
Normally when a big cat is introduced to a new space, they immediately set about investigating the area. They check every feature and corner, sniffing out the new smells, and instinctively feel the need to mark it as their territory. However, once Ishel was in his new home, he simply lay down and seemed disinterested in his surroundings. The following day he showed no signs of having moved and when offered some much needed food, he still wouldn’t budge.
Not getting up to eat was cause for concern and so the staff called in a specialist veterinarian. Upon examining Ishel, the veterinarian said that he was breathing heavier than normal. The cat had likely gotten sick at some point in his journey to the zoo and that, combined with the added stress of the transport and changes, had worsened into pneumonia.
In order for Ishel to get better, he needed medicine. The medicine needed to be ingested via food or water, but he wasn’t eating or drinking anything. No matter what anyone tried to entice him to eat, it didn’t work, and soon Ishel had lost a lot of weight. He became extremely weak, his eyes sunken, and his fur dulled. All the while Olga watched on feeling helpless, she knew if he didn’t eat, he would die.
As a last resort, she proposed hand feeding Ishel in order to ensure he got the medicine he so badly needed. The other caretakers pushed back at this idea. They felt it would be too dangerous and unpredictable, the big cat could easily lash out and seriously hurt her. With precious time slipping away and Ishel growing weaker by the hour, Olga decided to take matters into her own hands. When the coast was clear, Olga snuck into Ishel’s cage with some food and his medicine and attempted to feed him.
At first Ishel seemingly ignored her, he didn’t move or make a sound. Once Olga was close, she offered him a chunk of meat, which caused the cat to bare his razor sharp teeth at her in warning to back off. Undeterred, Olga tried dunking the meat in water to make it more appealing. This time when offered the food, Ishel licked the water off, then he nibbled at the meat. While it wasn’t much, it was more than anything she’d seen him eat or do since he had arrived!
After he had a bite Ishel went back to resting and ignoring Olga, so she left him alone, and made a beeline for the veterinarian in order to tell him the good news and get some medicine. Her plan was to continue hand feeding and give him the medicine by dipping his food in it. When she tried again to feed him this way, it worked, and the cheetah was soon eating out of her hands.
With the medicine working, Ishel slowly regained his strength and was acting more and more like a normal cheetah. He started moving around and exploring his enclosure and acted much more interested in everything. Then one morning when Olga arrived to feed him, he went over to her and bumped his head against her leg as if to thank her for the care she’d taken of him. When she pet his head, she noticed he was purring and this marked the beginning of a special bond between the two. In the days after, Ishel would greet Olga and hang out with her, never once showing any aggression towards his new friend.
Sadly, a year later the zoo told Olga that they could no longer afford to care for Ishel. They had already sold him, and as he was taken away in a cage he growled and thrashed, Olga looked on helplessly with tears streaming from her eyes. For years Ishel travelled from town to town with a circus, but with limited means to help and never knowing where he was, Olga could only keep him in her thoughts.
About four years down the line, Olga heard that a circus was in town and would be bringing their animals to the zoo she still worked at. One of the animals happened to be a blind cheetah that had lost its sight 2 years prior due to illness, and Olga wondered if it was Ishel. Desperate to know, she found the circus worker responsible for the cheetah and was soon face to face with the big cat. At first, the blind cheetah paid her no mind, but then she spoke to the circus worker and that caused the cat to turn its head towards her and meow loudly. Knowing it was indeed Ishel, Olga ran to be at his side and pet him. He purred and nudged her legs affectionately. After all the years apart, he still remembered her voice and smell, and the kindness she had shown him when he was so sick.

It is wonderful to have our homes smell good, and scented candles became very popular over the last decade. That is, until it was discovered that many of these candles and scented sprays contain really dangerous chemicals, that can cause permanent lung damage.
I, myself, have stopped using those candles that I used to love, because of the inherent health hazard they carry. I’m always looking for natural alternatives that are chemical free, to provide a nice fresh smell in my home. When I came upon this DIY video for creating a natural air freshener I was intrigued.
The video below is a great tutorial for how to easily, inexpensively and quickly make your own fresh and chemical-free deodorizer. Two alternative versions are demonstrated, which differ slightly in how they release the fragrance.
For both versions, all you will need are: a MASON JAR WITH A TIN LID, HAMMER, FORK, EMPTY CANDLE CONTAINER, SCREWDRIVER, BAKING SODA AND SOME ESSENTIAL OIL. The DIY is easy to follow, and gives you a great means to slow-release a pleasant scent into any room in your home.

This Pup Walks Past A Car Blasting Music.

I never love it when people feel the need to blast the music in their car so loudly, that it imposes on everyone else. However, in the case of the car playing a Latino song in the video you are about to watch below, I had to drop my judgement…it put a big smile on my face! This pup doesn’t seem to mind the music whatsoever. He shows all the onlookers just how good his fancy paw work is..
Sometimes when you hear the music you just have to let loose and let the rhythm carry you away. There is nothing more therapeutic than stopping everything you are doing, clearing your mind, forgetting about all your stress and anxiety and just dance like nobody is watching. Luckily for us people happened to be watching the dog in this video and caught it all on video!
The music had a ‘feel good’ beat and melody, made better by a dog who happened to be passing by…he was clearly feelin’ it. No judgement for this pup who is drawn to cross the street to get closer to the music. As he saunters over, you won’t believe his moves. He rides the beat like he was a classically trained dancer except he adds his own style and flare to his dance.
He bops up and down to the beat with such precision! Seriously, has he been taking dance lessons? I’ve never seen any video of an animal moving to a beat, that approaches anything like the skills, of this ‘beyond cool’ dog! It may actually motivate you to get up and dance along.

Many people struggle to remove these stains and often think that they need strong, harsh chemical cleaners to get rid of them effectively. However, there’s a better and more affordable way to go about cleaning a shower head with crusted on mineral build up. All you need is apple cider vinegar, a Ziploc bag, and a rubber band.

This rubbing alcohol spray is the perfect thing to have on hand for freezing cold mornings and icy windshields. You can leave the bottle in your car and it won’t even freeze, unless it gets well under zero. That’s because the freezing point of isopropyl alcohol is -128.2 degrees Fahrenheit, so when you spray it on the ice, it doesn’t freeze up. Instead, it helps to melt the ice and keeps it from re-freezing. Since all you have to do is mist it on, it’s by far the quickest and easiest way to clear a windshield that’s coated with a thick layer of ice.

This Guy Rescues a Baby Dolphin

In the Caribbean there is a place called Coral Cove. It’s a small beachside town that a man named Brian called home. He was very familiar with the other local residents, as well as the ever changing faces of the many tourists who visited the island. With his easy going personality and wide range of knowledge about the surrounding ocean and land, many people turned to him for help or information. He was especially known as one of the best scuba diving guides around and knew the beaches, reefs, and surrounding waters well.
During the week, Brian kept to a mostly unchanging daily schedule. He’d wake up, eat breakfast, and suit up to go scuba diving. Even if he didn’t have an early morning tour to guide, he’d still head to the water for one of his favorite things to do, a solo dive. Such were his plans for the day as he headed off alone to explore the deeper waters around Coral Cove.
When diving in areas further out with deep water, the world changes dramatically. It’s a lot quieter, darker, and full of unknowns. You can never be sure of what sea life you might come across and it’s easy to get lost in the peaceful solitude. As Brian moved silently though the dreamy depths a sudden commotion snapped him back to reality. When he surfaced, he saw a bunch of tourists on the beach yelling and waving. Without thinking, Brian quickly headed over to them.
Once he got closer to shore it became apparent that a baby dolphin had gotten stuck near the beach. It was trapped behind a rock formation that made it impossible to get back out into the open water. Scared and panicking, the poor baby was thrashing around in the shallow rocky water. If someone didn’t help it out soon, the tiny dolphin would certainly injure itself or worse.
Knowing he had to act fast, Brian worked methodically. Above all else, he had to calm the baby. Thankfully, his relaxed demeanor and natural comfort in the water worked to his advantage in doing so. Once he reached the dolphin, he slowly moved near to it and reached out to softly touch its side. When he did so, the obvious fear and panic in the baby’s eyes gave way and its demeanor relaxed a bit, as it seemed to place trust in him. With the dolphin calmer, Brian was able to swim alongside and guide it away from the jagged rocks and out to deeper water.
The crowd that had gathered on the beach cheered and clapped upon seeing the tiny dolphin headed to safety. All except for one woman that is, who looked deeply worried and unsmiling, which Brian picked up on. He followed her gaze and noticed that the baby dolphin was headed back towards the shore. It was thrashing around and the sounds it made were those of being in distress. Brian knew that these movements and noises were the dolphin trying to tell him to follow it, so he headed back out into deeper water behind the baby.
It took him around a cliff to where a fishing boat had anchored near the shore. Dangling down from the boat were fishing nets that touched the bottom of the reef. This was illegal, as the coral reefs housed so many protected species and were very delicate, yet this fishing boat was sitting above it all in a protected zone. Brian dove deep to take a closer look and what he saw was devastating. There were many fish entrapped in the nets, some of them endangered species and already dead, as well as a full grown dolphin. Its eyes were full of fear, and he knew this must be what the baby dolphin was trying to signal to him.
Once again, Brian moved quickly to free the trapped dolphin. He had his diving knife with him and immediately started cutting the net. With a few strategic cuts, the dolphin was free and swam off to meet up with the baby dolphin. Brian was beyond happy to have been able to help them, but he still had more fish to save. He worked tirelessly to free as many other trapped creatures from the illegal net as he could before surfacing and heading towards the boat.
He still had one last thing to do. He quickly and quietly pulled the wires on the fishing boat, thus ensuring that its crew couldn’t get away when the marine police eventually went to investigate. All the while, no one on the boat noticed Bryan swimming silently below as he slipped away. Once he got to safety on shore, Brian called in the illegal boat to the local police who immediately dispatched a patrol boat to investigate. They ended up arresting the captain and crew of the boat, hopefully deterring them from ever trying to illegally fish again.

The ugly spots and stains are caused by water that contains large amounts of minerals such as limestone, calcium, and magnesium.
These metals and minerals are naturally occurring, most often in areas with low water tables and mountainous regions, and water that contains them is perfectly safe to use and drink. The biggest downside to it is the crusty, whitish colored mineral deposits and stubborn stains it leaves behind. Over time these gradually build up on stuff, especially faucets and shower heads.
Many people struggle to remove these stains and often think that they need strong, harsh chemical cleaners to get rid of them effectively. However, there’s a better and more affordable way to go about cleaning a shower head with crusted on mineral build up. All you need is apple cider vinegar, a Ziploc bag, and a rubber band.
Simply pour some apple cider vinegar into the plastic bag and place it over and on the shower head. Use a rubber band to secure it in place and then leave it on overnight. Remove the baggy the following day, wipe the shower head clean, and it should be restored to its former glory!

In a spray bottle container mix together 2 parts isopropyl alcohol with 1 part water and then add in 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap. Shake it up, spray it directly onto an icy windshield, and watch the ice literally melt away right before your very eyes!
This rubbing alcohol spray is the perfect thing to have on hand for freezing cold mornings and icy windshields. You can leave the bottle in your car and it won’t even freeze, unless it gets well under zero. That’s because the freezing point of isopropyl alcohol is -128.2 degrees Fahrenheit, so when you spray it on the ice, it doesn’t freeze up. Instead, it helps to melt the ice and keeps it from re-freezing. Since all you have to do is mist it on, it’s by far the quickest and easiest way to clear a windshield that’s coated with a thick layer of ice.

3) DIY Boot Inserts- Maintain the shape of tall boots by cutting a foam pool noodle into thirds or fourths, then stick a piece in each boot and they’ll stay upright, making them easier to organize and wear later on.
4) Stop Wipers From Freezing to a Car Windshield- Take an old pair of long cotton socks and slide them over each wiper, puling it down as far as it can go or reaches. This will prevent wipers from freezing and/or sticking to the windshield, and makes life all the more easier.
5) Organize Winter Gear- Hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, hand warmers, neck warmers and all other winter accessories can be neatly stored in one accessible place with a shoe organizer. Hang it over a door and never search for lost gloves again.
6) Windshield Treatment- This one is the best! A combination of vinegar and water works wonders at preventing frost and ice from building up on car windshields and windows. Mix the two liquids up in a spray bottle, spritz it on car windows, then wipe off with a soft cloth.
7) Boot Tray- Keep floors safe, clean, and dry by making your own boot tray. This one is much more appealing than commercially available ones and works even better. Fill a large metal cookie sheet with a layer of decorative rocks and put it near the door so that when people enter they can immediately place wet boots on the rocks. The water will drip through the rocks to the bottom and soon evaporate.
