Which Side Of Your Brain Is More Dominant?
image via – shutterstock.com
The human brain can be split into two parts; the left side and the right side. Each half is commonly associated with different abilities, strengths, weaknesses, ways of thinking, and other such types of attributes. The following is a general breakdown of some of the main characteristics that each side is most often connected with:
Left-brain dominant people are said to be more analytical, objective, and logical thinkers. They’re good at solving math and similar types of logic-oriented problems, which often leads to them quickly learning and excelling at new things. They like to delve deep into scientific pursuits and plan things out in advance, making to-do lists and checking up on their progress as they go.
In comparison, right-brain dominant people are more creative and expressive thinkers. They have strong imaginations and approach problems or issues with different, alternative types of solutions. They tend to be more spontaneous and emotional and often act on their feelings and intuition. Since they are more expressive they excel at artistic pursuits like painting and music.
People often self-identify as either a left-brain thinker or a right-brain thinker. They do this subjectively by going off of whatever side they assume they match up more with, in terms of the traits they believe they exhibit, but many times their educated assumption or guess is flat out wrong. How your brain is truly wired can better be determined through much less biased means and with the help of objectively designed tests.

Her Doctors Thought She Had a Brain Tumor. But When The Surgeons Open Her Up They Discover Something Terrifying!
image via – youtube.com
Rachel Palma, a 42 year old woman living in Middletown, New York, had just gotten married and was looking forward to starting a new chapter with the man she loved. While most everything in her life was going smoothly, she started to notice some strange things going on with her health. Rachel seemed to be having trouble remembering things that she shouldn’t have been struggling with. She couldn’t think of words to communicate with and recalled one incident where she showed up to work without her uniform, even though she’d been working at the same place for the past five years.
In addition to memory problems, she was also losing her motor skills and would suddenly drop things, such a coffee cup, seemingly out of the blue. It only got worse as she began hallucinating, having horrible nightmares and insomnia, and by January 2018 she was struggling to make sense of text messages and emails. Her confusion had resulted in a number of scary episodes and despite having gone to the emergency room several times, she was no closer to getting any answers as to why she was acting like this.
After reaching out to specialists at Mount Sinai Hospital and explaining the strange symptoms she was experiencing they immediately ordered an MRI. The brain scans revealed a marble-sized lesion on her left frontal lobe which led doctors to believe she had a potentially cancerous malignant brain tumor. Rachel was shocked and saddened by the news that she might have such an aggressive type of life threatening cancer but vowed to do whatever she could to fight it. After a biopsy, doctors found that the tumors contrast had changed and because of this surgery was required.
Dr. Jonathan Rasouli, the chief neurosurgery resident at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, helped treat Rachel and performed her brain surgery. What he found was completely unexpected and strange, it was not a brain tumor at all, instead he removed an odd looking encapsulated mass that could best be described as resembling a quail egg. According to Dr. Rasouli, he and other surgeons in the room were shocked and surprised at what they’d found. They had no idea what it was, so they placed it under a microscope to examine it further.
Still perplexed by what they’d removed from Rachel’s brain, the surgeons decided to cut it open and were astonished to find that the mass held a baby tapeworm inside it! She had been suffering from neurocysticercosis, a parasitic disease people get from ingesting microscopic eggs from a tapeworm found in pork. The eggs hatch inside the body and the larvae can end up travelling to the to muscles, skin, eyes, and even brain where they form cysts. In Rachel’s case, the tapeworm ended up settling in her brain near the speech center, which is what led to her symptoms.
While most people would be freaked out about having a parasite living in their brain, Rachel was happy and relieved because she didn’t have a tumor or brain cancer. The parasitic disease could be treated more easily than cancer and after a round of antibiotics she was declared parasite-free. The question remains as to how she contracted the tapeworm in the first place because she hadn’t eaten undercooked meat or travelled outside the US. Despite not knowing this, Rachel says she “stopped asking questions and started celebrating and making the most out of life.” In the end, she chose not to dwell on the scary experience she went through and is instead looking forward to the future.

This Is What Happens To Your Brain If You Eat One Pickle a Day For a Month!
image via – shutterstock.com
I love a good sour pickle, but had no idea that when naturally fermented, pickles could be the answer to HAPPINESS! This has nothing to do with the enjoyment one gets from their taste; pickles, like other naturally fermented foods actually have the ability to relieve anxiety and thus produce greater experience of joy. This is known as the “anxiolytic effect.”
Reported by “Smithsonian Magazine”, neurosis and anxiety can be indirectly altered by consuming pickles and other fermented foods, such as sauerkraut. This effect was scientifically studied at the College of William and Mary, by researcher Matthew Hilimire.
His results showed a significant reduction in social anxiety and neuroticism, in individuals who ate fermented foods daily. This “anxiolytic effect” was published in the “National Center for Biotechnology Information.”
The video you are about to watch below, does a fantastic job of explaining this phenomenon. It turns out that the stomach is actually a “second brain!” You may have heard that people who suffer from depression and benefit from anti-depressants, do so because their “serotonin” (which has been depleted) gets replenished.
Amazingly, 90% of the serotonin in our bodies is found in the stomach. Fermented foods have a positive effect on our digestive system due to their richness in probiotics, which in turn increases our serotonin!
It has been determined by scientists that a healthier stomach leads to a healthier brain. This occurs because of the boost in serotonin which increases happiness, by promoting healthier thinking and reducing distorted anxiety-laden thinking.
For a fuller explanation of this wonderful link between pickles and fermented foods and their impact on our sense of well-being, enjoy the following video.

What Is Your Strongest Brain Power?

A word cloud is a mash up of a variety of related words that are presented jumbled close together in different size and colored fonts. They are excellent indicators of how a person uses their brain and how they they think, and thus can reveal what someones greatest mental strength is.
When a person is given such a cloud, and is asked to describe all the similar words in just one word, how they perceive and narrow them all down is very revealing about what’s going on inside their head. The thousands of conscious and unconscious, minute calculations, thoughts, feelings, and reactions that are speeding through the mind and brain all lead to one choice and final decision.
The culmination of a series of choices can be used to figure out what type of mental strength the person making them has. All of this centers around the human brain. There are two sides to every brain; the left side and the right side. Each one is associated with different abilities, strengths, weaknesses, ways of thinking, and other similar types of attributes. The following is a general breakdown of the characteristic that each side is connected with:
Left-brain dominant people are said to be more analytical, objective, and logical thinkers. They’re good at solving math and similar types of logic-oriented problems, which often leads to them quickly learning and excelling at new things. They like to delve deep into scientific pursuits and plan things out in advance, making to-do lists and checking up on their progress as they go.

They tend to be more spontaneous and emotional and often act on their feelings and intuition. Since they are more expressive they excel at artistic pursuits like painting and music.
People often self identify as either a left-brain thinker or a right-brain thinker, depending on which side they match up more with, in terms of the traits they believe they exhibit. Yet how your brain is truly wired can better be determined through less biased means.

Is Your Brain More Female or Male?
image
The sperm meets the egg and a life is formed. Will the fetus be male or female? Although the human sex ratio is roughly one male to every one female, the line may not be so black and white. The personalities of the sexes can vary drastically. Some men are very masculine, some very feminine, and there is the whole spectrum in between. This is the case for woman as well.
It gets even more blurry when considering the typical roles that have been placed on the genders by society. If a lumber jack likes to cook and sew, is he less of a man? What if a stay-at-home mom likes to work on cars? Does that make her manly? The contemporary openness of sexual preference now has us even more confused about gender identity. Men like men, women like women. Men want to be women and vice versa. Every possible combination has been explored. It’s becoming more and more obvious that at the core, humans are made of the same essence.

We are androgynous and we are capable. Aside from obvious physiological restrictions, there is nothing that a man can do that can not be accomplished by a woman and the opposite is also true. So, what’s left now except to break down all the walls of sexual expectation? Let the dads stay at home with the kids while the moms work hard all day to support the family. Encourage the teenagers to wear each other’s clothes and cut their hair in ways that make it hard to tell what they’re hiding in their pants.
