Although having young children get sick is a normal part of parental stress, what you are about to hear in the video below, is just horrifying! Having your child become ill, for no apparent reason, and to have symptoms get worse over time instead of better, is any parent’s nightmare.
Penny Powell recently shared photos on Facebook, after a good friend of hers found out why her son had been chronically ill. The boy’s father, Simon, had a suspicion as to why their young son wasn’t getting better, and he turned out to be right. The boy’s ‘sippy cup’ had a leak-proof spout, and when the Simon inspected it, he noticed an awful odor coming from it.
This feature, which makes these cups so convenient for parents, is sealed. When Simon cracked the spout open with a knife, he found something growing there that explained his baby’s illness…MOLD!!
His son had been drinking from a mold infested cup! Needless to stay he was outraged, disgusted and frightened for his son’s well-being. He took pictures and when Penny posted them on Facebook, other parents began sharing the same thing. They had all been using Tommy Tippee Cups.
The company’s response to this finding was quite lame, as you will hear in the video; it should be said that there are several other manufacturers that have a similar design in which the sealed spout is a breeding ground for mold. As mold can cause sinus infections, throat irritation, asthmatic symptoms, and chronic eye and skin irritation, it is strongly recommended that any such cup be discarded.

Have You Ever Noticed The Stickers With Numbers On Them At Grocery Store? THIS Is What It Means!

Most people don’t think much about the little stickers that sometimes come on the fruits and vegetables they buy at the grocery store. The pesky round stickers always have a couple of numbers on them and despite what many people think, they aren’t there to simply annoy us.
The numbers are an items Price Look-Up (PLU) code, which are used and placed on unprocessed, fresh produce. Grocery stores and supermarkets use these codes to keep track of inventory and to speed up, streamline, and improve check-out times. The stickers and numbers readily identify the type of produce, commodity, variety, and how it was grown, thus eliminating the human error involved in cashiers guessing what specific type of produce an item may be.
Not all fruits and vegetables are labeled with a PLU sticker since, at least in the US, the codes are optional and not required by law. However, the produce that do feature them can tell you a lot about how that item was grown and whether or not it was genetically modified, produced with fertilizers and herbicides, or organically grown. Here are the main things you should know:
– If a PLU code has only four numbers total or begins with a 0, it indicates the produce was conventionally, or traditionally, grown with the use of common pesticides. Since it’s established fact that there are known health risks associated with ingesting pesticides, and that they can accumulate in our bodies, the codes can help you avoid these types of produce. An example of this is that a Macoun apple that has been traditionally grown will bear a PLU code of 3073.
-If a PLU code has five total numbers and it begins with an 8, it indicates the produce was genetically modified (GMO). Basically anything that is grown from a genetically engineered seed falls under this category and is not organic or traditionally grown. According to the video and the Monsanto website, there are 8 commercially available GMO types of crops that include corn, cotton, soybeans, alfalfa, canola, sugar beets, squash, and papaya.
However, since PLU codes are optional, many growers and suppliers purposefully don’t label their food because they know consumers will avoid anything labeled as GMO. For illustrative purposes, if you were to ever see a label with an 8 it’d look like this; 84011 for a genetically modified banana.
– If a PLU code has five total numbers and it begins with a 9, it indicates the produce was grown organically and is not genetically modified or engineered. Organic fruits and vegetables are grown without the use of any unnatural products like pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, or synthetic fertilizers.
Thus, they’re healthier and much better overall for our bodies, the earth and environment. Women who are pregnant and young, developing children may especially benefit from organic produce.
Furthermore, if you want to buy and eat only organic produce, look for items that are labeled as 100% organic and USDA certified. Food labeled as such cannot be produced from any type or form of genetically modified organism and the US government regulates the term strictly according to law.
In comparison, some foods are labeled “GMO-free” and “non-GMO” but those terms are not set or regulated by any government body. Instead, groups of food companies form associations and they set the standards and regulate what qualifies as fitting under the label.
Since their business and bottom line is profit-motivated, and non-GMO labeled food often sells for a higher amount, there has been problems with misleading labels in the past. In short, they simply cannot be relied upon, on their own, as being absolutely 100% non-GMO. When in doubt, look for a 5 digit PLU that starts with a number 9 and packaging that clearly states the product is labeled as USDA certified, 100% organic.

This Guy Puts Vinegar In This Old Pup’s Ear. The Reason? I Had No Idea

If you have a dog who often suffers from itchy, dirty, smelly ears, then you know how disheartening it can be to watch them constantly scratch and whine in discomfort. A lot of dogs and particular breeds, such as spaniels and retrievers, are prone to developing ear infections.
The most common cause is dietary and too much grain or sugar in their diet can trigger food allergies and result in yeast building up in the ears. Another potential cause is lifestyle and how much time a dog spends outdoors and in the water can increase the chance for infection.
That’s because dogs who are outside a lot have greater exposure to grasses, spores, pollen, and other allergens in the air. Dogs who swim more are likely to get water in their ears and excess moisture in a dark, warm place like the ear is the perfect spot for yeast and bacteria to grow.
Finally, there is always the potential that your dog has ear mites and if you suspect that to be the case, it’s best get them veterinary attention. To treat and clean your dog’s itchy ears at home, try this simple and inexpensive method. It’s a safe, all natural solution that will help alleviate their symptoms.
All you need to do is mix together equal parts apple cider vinegar and distilled water. You don’t need a lot, just enough to fill a dropper or syringe with about 10-20 drops. When administering the solution, it’s very important to never place anything inside your dog’s ear canal.
Instead use a dropper or syringe to hover right above the ear opening and place about 10 drops in the ear. Immediately afterwards, gently massage and rub the ear in a circular motion, reverse direction a few times, and remove your hand. Your dog will probably shake his head after and will love the soothing relief that the simple mixture provides.
As with any home health treatment, you should always consult with your pet’s veterinarian first before administering, just to be safe. Also, if your dog’s eardrums are, or could be, perforated and/or punctured do not use this treatment. The man in this video checked with his vet first and had the method he goes over approved.
His adorable and very relaxed dog has had a problem with ear infections his whole life. The man noticed early on that the itching and pain were driving his dog crazy and he soon found that the apple cider vinegar and water solution works best at alleviating the dog’s urge to itch and scratch.
He also uses a 50/50 ratio mixture and demonstrates how he cleans his dog’s ears safely and properly, as advised by his veterinarian. His easy-going dog appears to know what’s coming as she lays down on her side patiently waiting for her treatment.
He drops in the solution and then rubs her ears, wiggling them all around to loosen up the crud. He does a few extra things, like sticking a cotton ball in her ear and it’s kind of graphic when he pulls it out, so be forewarned. Check it out to see the rest and how he does it.

Just about everyone owns, or at least uses, a cell phone these days. Even some kids who can’t speak yet have access to the the devices, they are simply everywhere. In the span of a few short years they have become widely available and increasingly affordable. While they make life all the more convenient, there remains a lot of questions and concerns about whether or not they are completely safe to use.
On of the main issues surrounding cell phone safety is whether or not they increase the risk of developing cancer or tumors in the neck and head areas. This concern is borne out of the fact that cell phone antennas emit radiofrequency energy waves, which are a form of non-ionizing radiation that our bodies can absorb.
Experts have been divided for years, and remain split to this day, as to whether or not the radiofrequency energy given off by cell phones leads to a higher risk of developing cancer. In addition, many other factors come into play, such as how much time an individual spends on their phone, where they hold and store it, the type of cell phone used, and so forth.
Regardless of what the answer may turn out to be, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has been exercising oversight over the levels of radiation that cell phones are allowed to emit. In terms of health and safety standards, FCC regulations state that all cell phones sold in the US must be tested for their SAR, or Specific Absorption Rate.
That value is the rate at which radiation from a cell phone is being absorbed into the human body when the phone is held up next to the ear. The maximum rate allowed is 1.6 watts per kilogram of body weight. A device whose SAR exceeds this amount is deemed unfit for human use and thus banned from being sold.

Numbers one and two are the more expensive models on the list, while the remaining three are comparatively cheaper android phones.
The next time you go to pick out a new cell phone, be sure to look up what the SAR is for any that you like. It’s always better to err on the side of caution and to make informed choices that are best, and healthiest, for ourselves.

Having an invisible impairment, became frustrating for this young girl, so she decided to do something humorous about it. She is completely deaf in one ear, and had grown tired of having to explain that to people. She came up with a clever fix for this frustration, that would let people know not to talk to her on her left side.
She cleverly got a tattoo, behind her left ear, of a speaker with an ‘X’ next to it! She posted this image to Imgur, and it has received more than 2.5 million views within one day. Other people who were deaf in one ear loved her post, and several people copied what she did! Seems like she started an effective and humorous trend.
