This Is The Strange Reason Why You Always Wake Up In The Middle Of The Night!

image via – shutterstock.com

Did you ever wonder why at times you wake up in the middle of the night and feel wide awake for about an hour?  Most people get anxious, because they fear that they won’t get enough sleep even after they fall back asleep, because work or school demands a certain hour for waking.

Well, given that situation awakening like that isn’t great, but it happens for a really good reason…it is due to an evolutionary trait. Waking in the middle of the night actually happens because historically speaking, this is what you are programmed to do.

The video you are about to watch explains this phenomenon from both an historical and biological perspective.  Up until the late 17th century human beings used to have “segmented sleep”; sleeping for four hours, awakening for 1-2 hours and then returning to sleep for the last four!

This was actually do to a natural biological clock, that has through the centuries been fought against.  According to psychologist Greg Jacobs, this remnant of what is a normal part of human physiology should not be a source for panic.

Rather, if we were to go with the flow of what is a natural bi-modal rhythm of sleep we could continue to relax in the awake hour or two, before the next segment of sleep.  You will hear about how our ancestors used that hour in relaxing ways, which permits the brain to produce a hormone known as prolactin, to actually allow for relaxation to occur, which will in turn, make falling back asleep a natural occurrence.

The video below goes into some more really interesting evolutionary and historical facts about this segmented sleep; understanding of this phenomenon may help you or someone you know not panic when they have an awake period during the night.

Do you always wake up in the middle of the night?

He Set Up a Hidden Camera To Catch What His Kitty Does While He Is Asleep and It’s Hysterical

image via – youtube.com

If you have a cat or know anyone who has a cat you are probably pretty aware that these majestic creatures can be quite strange and weird and times. Unlike their canine counterparts, they do not seek constant affection and seem to do just fine on their own. That isn’t to say that cats don’t like getting affection and attention, they do it’s just on their own terms when they feel like it. Cats are mysterious and amazing creatures and that is why they are one of the most popular pets in the world.

A man in Thailand had a weird feeling his cat was up to something at night while he was sleeping. As many people know cats spend most of their time sleeping during the day and then become quite active at night. This is pretty standard, as cats like to run from room to room as fast as they can making strange sounds and acting completely crazy as soon as the lights go out. However, this man had a suspicion that his cat was up to something even stranger.

He decided to set up a hidden camera while he was sleeping to try and catch his feline friend in the act. The footage is just absolutely adorable and hilarious. I don’t want to give too much away because it is all captured in the video below.

During the night the footage is comical as he sits closely by his human and just stares at him. Then multiple times he climbs directly on his face. A lot of the night he just sits on top of his human guarding him like a lion would guard his cub. But the best part which you will see in the video below is the next morning when somehow this kitty realizes that there is a camera and he is being filmed without permission!

He Realized His Pup Stared At Him Every Night While He Slept. When He Finds Out The Truth It’s Heartbreaking!

image via – youtube.com

Rescuing a dog from a shelter is one of the most selfless deeds you can ever do. Being able to care for an animal, and give them a second chance at life is such a beautiful thing. Not only are you saving them, but they will soon return the favor by being the best friend you could ever ask for. Dog’s unconditional is unmatched and they have heart’s of gold!

In today’s story we feature a man who decided to adopt a dog from a shelter. He drove to the rescue center, got out walked into the shelter and was immediately drawn to this one special golden retriever. He brought the pup home and just knew this was the perfect match for him and his family. Everybody in the household loved the pooch and the pooch loved them all back. He was fully trained, obedient and just an overall delight to be around.

Then one night the guy noticed something strange the golden retriever kept doing every single night. He had gotten a little dog gate so that the dog wouldn’t come in his room during bed time. Many people have these and it’s a great tool to let dogs know what is a dog friendly area of the house and what is not. Anyway, the man realized that every night when he went to sleep, his dog would wait by the gate all night and stare at him from the second he got into the bed, then fell asleep and when he woke up the dog would still be staring.

Initially he didn’t think much of it and thought it might just be because he was slightly uncomfortable in his new environment. Strangely, the behavior didn’t stop, it went on for weeks and then months. Finally the man wanted to figure out what or why his otherwise amazing dog was doing this every single evening. His first thought was, the pup wasn’t getting enough exercise and had excess energy that was causing him to stay up and watch him all night.

In turn, he began to increase his walk and playtime exponentially. The dog of course loved the new level of fun time with his beloved human, but when night came, there he was again, staring all night long. This became a little more concerning to the guy, he now thought maybe the dog had an underlying issue or illness. He brought the golden retriever to a Vet who examined him and did a full work up and everything came back fine. This dog was in great health physically which was great news, but why wasn’t he sleeping and why did he stay up all night staring at his intently.

Since the Vet couldn’t shed any light on what could possibly be going on, the guy went back to the shelter he adopted the pup from and asked them if they knew why he could possibly be doing this every single night. Surprisingly some of the staff had some insight and answer that could potentially be the reason the dog was exhibiting such a strange behavior.

They told him, his old owner’s wife got pregnant and the couple thought it would be way too much work to have a baby and a dog so they decided that they would get rid of the poor golden retriever and bring him to a shelter before the new baby was born. The old owner was crushed because he truly did love this dog but didn’t think he and his wife could handle the full responsibility. He decided to bring it to the shelter. The thing was, he just couldn’t stomach looking at the dog as he dropped him off at the rescue center and walked away.

One day, he waited for the golden retriever to fall asleep in the car. As he was sleeping the man quietly drove to the shelter, brought him in while the dog was still sleeping and left him at the shelter while the retriever was still catching z’s. When the poor dog woke up in a scary new place without his family he couldn’t understand what had happened. He was now alone in a cage, it was scary and there were lots of other strange dogs all around him also in cages.

They figured out that the poor dog, wouldn’t go to sleep or take his eyes off his new family because he couldn’t trust, that this new human wouldn’t just drop him back off at the shelter while he slept. Basically he was too scared to sleep because he didn’t want to get abandoned again! When his new owner put it all together his heart was shattered. This truly was the saddest thing he had ever heard.

That night he got back home assured his sweet dog he would never abandon him, then removed the gate that was blocking the dog from coming into his room while he slept. From now on the wonderful golden retriever could now sleep in the same room and bed as human and hopefully could trust people enough to get some sleep.

The guy posted his story online about his dog’s story and experience. The story quickly went viral and people from all over the world were touched by this one special shelter dog’s story. I dream of a world where all shelter dogs get fur ever homes! I know this golden retriever tore my heart up, as wipe a happy tear off my face as I write this final sentence…. Such a good dog!

Nobody Believed Her When She Described Her Ferret’s Nightly Ritual So She Caught THIS Unexpected Surprise!

image via – youtube.com

Ferrets like to sleep. A lot. They often nap for a good 14-20 hours each day and a few spend even more time than that nestled up in bed. They can go from running around playing one minute to passed out cold the next. Sometimes they sleep so soundly that they appear lifeless and dead. You can pick one up, gently shake it, and the disturbance won’t even wake it up.

Their impressive need for beauty sleep is what makes this video easy to understand. An adorable ferret was feeling really sleepy and found the perfect spot to doze off in; wedged up between his owner’s legs. It was there that he fell into a zen-like sleep trance, slightly tiled back and upright on his furry back paws.

He was so out of it that he didn’t stir a bit when his owner gently grasped his front paws, they just fell limply to his sides. As the seconds tick the little guy slowly starts to sink and slide downwards off his warm comfy lap-bed, before suddenly toppling over! His fall from grace was performed in the most adorable and dramatic fashion.

He appears to have seized up his arms right before falling, which makes it look like he was about to take a bow or something. It’s too stinkin’ cute! According to Yulia S, the ferrets owner who originally posted the clip on YouTube, the sleepy critter’s name is Stivinson. She wrote that he was worn out after playing with a fellow ferret friend and ended up passing out in her arms.

She added that “he is absolutely healthy and [this] did not threaten his health.” It’s clear to see how much love and adoration Yulia has for little Stivinson, and he certainly looked happy, healthy, and well taken care of. If you want to make yourself laugh and smile, check out his bedtime antics and enjoy!

Apparently This Is The Reason You Need To Massage Your Feet Before You Go To Sleep!

image via – shutterstock.com

People in every corner of the world are constantly searching for alternative and natural ways to help treat their health conditions and disorders. They don’t want to have to rely on modern health options, and who can blame them. Those treatments usually involve incredibly harsh and expensive pharmaceuticals, which often have even worse side effects than the actual issue they are supposed to alleviate.

That is part of the reason why so many people end up turning to homeopathic remedies in an effort to naturally balance and heal their bodies, as well as their minds. One of the most popular and effective alternative treatment methods is hands down massage therapy.

The simple act of applying pressure to various points on our bodies does wonders to dissolve away aches, pains, tension, and the built up stresses hampering our bodies. One form of massage therapy that stands out as particularly effective is reflexology. Reflexology is the stimulation of a reflex point to relieve and help regulate abnormalities between different body parts.

By massaging and applying pressure to specific points located on either the hands or feet you can help bring about physical changes to your body. There are many different areas on the foot which correspond to certain body parts, so be sure to check out the included chart and video which map it all out for you to see.

Reflexology works by stimulating the thousands of nerves in the hands and feet, thereby increasing blood flow. Human feet have over 15,000 nerves and they all connect to form a network that reaches different areas of the body, such as our main organs and glands.

Many have found that by using the simple techniques at home they could dramatically relieve pain and discomfort caused by common ailments. People have relieved headaches, digestion issues, sleep problems, back pain, and even lessened the effects of both colds and the flu by massaging the touch points on the feet that are associated with the area in which the problem stems from.

The treatments are incredibly simple and easy to do, but the best part about it is the fact that they’re convenient and don’t cost a penny if done in the comfort of your home. However, if you prefer or choose to, you can always go to a professional that has been trained in the ancient art.

If your hesitant or doubtful about whether or not foot reflexology could help you, try thinking about it like this; you have nothing to lose and potentially lots to gain by giving yourself a foot massage. At the very least you’ll feel more at ease, relaxed, and comfortable.

Our feet go through a lot of abuse daily and we often neglect them. So tonight, when you’re resting and done with the day, kick off your shoes, peel off your socks, and give yourself a foot massage! Doing this right before you go to bed will help you to relax, fall asleep faster, and sleep better overall.

Try it tonight and pass this onto others to help them find comfort and better health in their own lives!
