THIS Group Of Elephants Stands In Line Everyday To Hug This Lady. This Is The Strange Reason Why!

usage via – youtube.com

The ivory trade is one of the world’s oldest, cruelest, and most inhumane types of trade.  Every year thousands of animals are killed for their ivory tusks, with elephants being slaughtered at alarming rates and suffering the most from it.  Poachers have decimated herds and wild elephant numbers are steadily declining.

One woman, Dr. Dame Daphne Sheldrick, saw this happening in her own back yard.  Along with her husband she was the co-warden of the Tsavo National Park in Kenya and when he passed away in 1977, she started the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT).  Her goal was to help rescue and save as many orphaned elephants as she possibly could, and she succeeded, today it’s the most successful orphan rehabilitation program on the planet.

Orphaned baby elephants are notoriously hard to care for.  To survive they require constant, specialized care and a certain type of milk formula that contains coconut oil, which Daphne found only after trying every possible milk source she could get her hands on.  When she did finally find the proper type of milk that the elephants, and rhinos, could tolerate and thrive off of, it was the breakthrough she’d been looking for and made her work possible.

When a newly orphaned baby elephant arrives at the sanctuary they are under deep emotional and physical distress.  Some are injured and all are scarred after seeing their mothers and possibly other family members slaughtered by poachers for nothing more than their ivory tusks.  They are not caged or penned in, instead they’re allowed to roam freely.

Each one is assigned their own handler who is like a surrogate mother, they take care of any and all needs the baby elephant might have.  They feed them, watch their health closely, play, and snuggle together. All of this is done with the goal of returning the elephant back into the wild, healthy and ready for the life it deserves.

Daphne was a leading voice in the fight against poaching and ending the ivory trade.  She saw firsthand the devastating effects it had on not only the elephants, but also the rhinos who are now facing extinction.  Her foundation has helped hundreds of elephants survive and return to the wild.

The saying “an elephant never forgets” is true in Daphne’s case because they never forgot her.  Over the years many came back to visit and bring their families to see her. They would line up to hug her and show their appreciation, and that alone made it all worth it to her.

Couple Spot a Strange Police Officer In Torrential Rain. But They’re Stunned When They Realize What She’s Doing!

image via – youtube.com

Police officers work to serve and protect the public, it’s the motto they swear by and everyday they answer calls all across the country of people seeking help.  While the majority of their time is spent dealing with traffic issues and disturbances involving people, sometimes they have to assist other animals in need. Simply put, cops never know what they are going to come across when on the job, and one Maryland police officer could have never guessed she’d be praised for what she did one dark and stormy day.

When Carolyn Hammett and her husband were driving near their home in Greenbelt, Maryland they witnessed the cops selfless act.  Rain was coming down in sheets, it was absolutely pouring outside, and yet up ahead in the middle of the road was a dark figure.  As they got closer the couple realized that it was a police officer and she was standing over something on the road. The officer was soaking wet and yet she was smiling down at her feet, looking as happy as a clam out in the storm.

When they finally got close enough the Hammett’s realized that the cop was standing guard over a snapping turtle!  Someone had luckily spotted the turtle trying to cross the road and told the officer who then stopped to assist it.  Since it was raining hard the little guy wasn’t easy to see and she didn’t want it to get hit by a car, so she pulled over and stood by it.  Being a snapping turtle, she couldn’t just pick it up without risking getting bit, plus it’s best to not handle any wild creatures. Either way, the officer wanted to keep it safe and had become the turtle’s bodyguard for the duration of his crossing.

Carolyn and her husband were amazed at what the officer was doing.  They knew most people would just keep driving, and even fewer would actually stand in the rain in the middle of the road to protect a turtle.  Inspired by the selfless act, they too pulled over and Carolyn’s husband jumped out of the car with an umbrella in hand. He ran over to the officer and shielded her from the rain while they chatted about the turtle’s predicament.

The officer had called animal control to come move the turtle out of the road, but there was no telling when they’d arrive.  For now, all she could do was stand guard and wait. Having dealt with snappers before, the Hammett’s knew just what to do. They ran home and got two shovels, then used them to pick the turtle up off the road and place him on the side where he’d be safe.  Now they could all rest easy and change into warn, dry clothes!

The cop who was guarding the turtle that day was Officer Sharnise Hawkins-Graham.  She ended up being awarded the 2017 Greenbelt Police Officer of the Year for her outstanding service and dedication, shown not only on that rainy day, but all throughout the year.  It’s inspiring to see others act so unexpectedly compassionate towards even the smallest of creatures among us, and when the Hammett’s saw Officer Hawkins-Graham, they were moved to help out as well.

THIS Woman’s Husband For Over 26 Years Died From THIS Common Bug Bite!

image via – youtube.com

When you find a tick on you, you can’t help but think of all the terrible possibilities.  Maybe it has Lyme disease or is infecting you with some other nasty, horrible health condition.  The thought eventually fades away with time, but it’s always lingering in the back of your mind. If they suffer a bite, some people will save the tick and have it analyzed in a lab or go straight to the doctor, but many just watch the bite area and pray it didn’t spread anything bad.

You can never know how a tick bite will play out, and despite them being on the rise, not much is known about the many complications and illnesses that the tiny insects carry.  Even the most widely known disease that ticks spread, Lyme disease, is notoriously tricky to both diagnose and treat. The lesser known ones are even scarier and more sudden, like the one that took Crissy Naticchia’s husband Jeff’s life.

Crissy and Jeff had been married for 26 years and throughout the whole time she was with him she only remembers him getting sick twice.  He was a healthy, active guy, and while he had recently become a little overweight, he’d been working hard to get back in shape. When he got sick the second time around, Chrissy thought he had the flu.  He had a fever and was weak, but within the span of a few days his condition drastically worsened.

Jeff became too weak to stand and had such a high fever that his clothes were drenched in sweat.  Fearing for his life, Crissy rushed him to the emergency room where doctors diagnosed him as having a kidney infection and given antibiotics.  He returned home and his fever finally broke, but he still utterly exhausted. He knew something was wrong and wasn’t feeling any better. Crissy thought maybe he’d been misdiagnosed and brought him to the hospital again.

Doctors ordered more in depth tests for a number of possible diseases, but everything came back negative.  They saw that Jeff’s liver and kidneys were shutting down and sent him to specialists who focused on liver malfunction.  He was immediately placed on dialysis but two days later developed respiratory issues and had trouble breathing. He continued to deteriorate and ended up in the ICU where a ventilator helped him breathe.  His prognosis was grim, but Crissy stayed strong and kept pushing for answers.

The hospital finally did have a diagnosis for Jeff, he was suffering from babesiosis.  The tick-borne illness is caused by parasites that infect and attack red blood cells. Anyone can contract babesiosis but it’s more severe in the elderly, people who have weakened immune systems, and those who have had their spleen removed.  Jeff had previously had his spleen removed and this was likely why he was suffering from such a severe reaction.

With news of the diagnosis, Chrissy was initially relieved, but that quickly turned to dread.  She’d gone home to rest when she awoke to a call at 4:30 in the morning. The hospital called and told her to come quickly, her husband’s blood pressure was dropping fast, and his heart was giving out.  Two hours later, Jeff passed away.

Crissy could not believe Jeff had died to suddenly and wants to use his story to raise awareness about tick-borne diseases and prevention.  Tick related illnesses are on the rise and yet not many people are aware that those who’ve had a splenectomy (their spleen removed) or who have compromised immune systems, face a higher risk of serious illness or death.  Healthy people are also at risk and if you take simple precautions to lessen the chance of getting bit by a tick it could save your life.

He Takes 4 Slices Of Tomatoes and Places It In Compost. 10 Days Later He Reveals The UNTHINKABLE!

image via – youtube.com

Being a tomato lover, I look forward to “homegrowns” in the summertime.  It is a simple pleasure that makes salads tastier, or I just like slicing one up with a little bit of salt, for a healthy delicious snack.  I have bought tomato plants and grown them outdoors, but until I watched this great video below, I had no idea that I could grow them with greater ease and less expense.

The tomato growing tip offered by the YouTube channel, The Wannabe Homesteader, is an internet find that I had to share.  You will see why it received over 460,000 views, and hundreds of comments, from people who just couldn’t get over this technique and were grateful for this easy tip.

There is nothing worse than cutting into a tomato that turns out to be overripe and inedible.  It always kills me when I have to throw one out, but now I know that it can be used  to cultivate seedlings, that will mature into my very own tomato plants.  The process is so simple, as you will see watching this guy, (who has a really relaxing voice), take you through the steps.

All you will need is: a plastic plant pot, some good rich potting soil, and your overripe tomato cut into slices.  He will show you exactly what to do, (which literally takes a few minutes), and within ten to fourteen days about 50-60 seedlings will have sprouted.  With a minimal amount of effort you will be picking your very own homegrown tomatoes before you know it!

This Is What Happens To Your Body When You Drink Water In The A.M. On An Empty Stomach For 1 Month!

image via – shutterstock.com

Detoxes and fasts are all the rage in health and beauty circles right now but they’re often astronomically expensive. Some programs charge $10 or more for a juice or bag of tea and that’s on the lower priced end. Many of these detoxes are ineffective scams and some can potentially do more harm than good.

If you truly want to cleanse and purify your body from the inside out you should do the following; chug a glass of water as soon as you wake up in the morning. This is something that just about everyone can manage and afford to do and it works.

Water in the morning can be compared to a detox because it helps cleanse the digestive tract, intestines, and colon. A cleaner system gives our bodies a better ability to absorb much needed nutrients from the foods we eat.

Naturally getting more vitamins and nutrients makes us healthier, stronger, and better prepared to fight off sickness and diseases. To fully harness all of the health benefits from water it’s best to drink a full 8 ounce glass of fluoride-free water on an empty stomach as soon as you wake up in the morning.

Allow the water to digest and do not eat or drink anything else for at least 45 minutes afterwards. Doing this helps to activate all of our internal organs and you start the day feeling refreshed.

The origins of this practice originate in Eastern Asia where both the Chinese and Japanese have followed it for years. In Japan, where it’s known as Japanese water therapy, it’s believed to provide several other positive changes to our bodies over time.

According to the Japanese Medical Society consuming water every morning can treat certain gastric issues, such as constipation, in 10 days and help lower high blood pressure in 30 days. There’s more information in the accompanying video on all of this and in addition to a morning glass of H2O there are several other ideal times you should aim to drink it to maximize it’s effectiveness, they are listed below:

1) Before each meal. Drinking 1-2 glasses of water about 30 minutes prior to eating a meal aids digestion by helping to prepare your stomach for the food that will soon follow. It also makes you feel fuller faster which can help you eat less and lose weight.

2) Before and after a workout. Drinking a glass at these times can help prevent dehydration caused by water loss due to perspiration.

3) Whenever you are tired. If you feel sluggish or exhausted chug a glass of water, it’ll wake up your body and help keep you alert.

Of course, you can always drink a glass of water anytime you’d like to! The points covered above are the best times to drink water when your body really needs it, so pass this along to loved ones and let them know how they can best clean their systems out.

Will you start drinking water on an empty stomach in the morning?
