Apparently You Should Never Use A Q-Tip To Clean Your Ear Holes. Use THIS Instead!

People tend to view earwax in a negative light and see it as a sign of uncleanliness because it looks gross. It’s natural to automatically assume that earwax is nasty, after all it’s a bodily fluid that comes out of ears, there’s nothing appealing about it whatsoever.

That’s why people stick all sorts of cleaning solutions, Q-tips, candles, even automatic ear cleaner gadgets into their ears in vain attempts to remove the offensive substance. If you’re guilty of doing any of the aforementioned things you should re-think your ear-care routine because they can easily injure or damage sensitive inner ears.

When anything is stuck into an ear it simply makes them dirtier and increases the odds of developing an ear infection or worse. The most common way people try to clean their ears is with Q-tips but this is wrong, ineffective, and pushes wax further into the ear canal, thereby increasing the potential for build up and blockage. Whatever you do, don’t use Q-tips!

First and foremost, the bad reputation earwax has developed is without merit and based on false information. The yellowish waxy substance is produced naturally by our body and is beneficial to our health in several ways.

It helps protect inner ears from all sorts of nasty stuff like infections, dust, dirt, bacteria and other germs that would otherwise enter them. Furthermore, the wax forms a protective barrier on the surface of the delicate skin in ear canals which prevents it from becoming irritated when water gets inside.

It also moisturizes and keeps that skin from becoming dry, flaky, and itchy. Earwax is produced by tiny hair follicles that line the ear canal. It normally makes its way out of ear openings naturally on its own, but sometimes wax can build up and cause blockage problems.

If you feel that there is a blockage due to wax build up in your ear you can try one of the natural remedies below or see a doctor if the issue is more serious. Please see the video for more information on the topic and keep reading for at home remedies you can try to safely remove earwax.

1) Saline Solution- Dissolve 1 tsp of salt in ½ cup of water. Soak a cotton ball in the solution, tilt your head to the side, and allow a couple of drops to fall into your ear. Let the saline work to soften the wax and keep your head to the side for a few minutes before tilting it in the other direction to drain it.

2) Olive Oil- Carefully drip 2-3 drops of olive oil into your ear before going to bed at night and try to sleep on the opposite side. Repeat this process for 3-4 consecutive nights. It helps to softens earwax so that it naturally works its way out of the ear canal on its own.

3) Paraffin Oil- Over a candle flame heat 2-3 tablespoons of paraffin oil so that it’s warm but not hot. Lie still on your side and place a few drops in your ear, wait several minutes, then rinse with warm water. Repeat this for 3 days to help completely dissolve buildups.

4) Vinegar and Alcohol Solution- Mix equal parts white vinegar and rubbing alcohol, dip a cotton ball in the solution and place several drops in your ear. Wait a few minutes then drain.

5) Hydrogen Peroxide- Mix equal parts water with 3% hydrogen peroxide and drip a few drops in your ear before gently shake your head to work it through the canal. Leave in for a few minutes then tilt your head to the side and drain it out.

Boy Tells Dr. THIS Pencil Got Trapped Inside His Ear But What The Dr. Removes Is UNTHINKABLE!

image via – youtube.com

It’s well known that young children love to stick things where they don’t belong.  They’ll put random things in their mouths, up their noses, or in their ears without thinking twice about what they’re even doing.  Think about it, just about everyone has a story from early childhood about how either they or someone they know got a Lego or M&M stuck up their nose!

Usually when something gets stuck its very temporary, the object eventually works its way out on its own, and in the end it turns out to be harmless.  However, there are times when a child needs professional help and for a young boy named Louis King that was the case.

According to Louis, he had been playing around when he stuck a pencil in his ear.  Part of it broke off and became lodged deep inside, but he neglected to even mention this to his mother for a full week!  Naturally, his mother was concerned and rushed him immediately to the doctor.

After hearing Louis’s story and examining him the doctor began the process of extracting what he believed to be was a pencil. However, the doctor soon realized that the object stuck in the young child’s ear was not what he had been telling them.  Instead of finding a pencil fragment, he found a watch battery!

The battery was so deep that Louis’s eardrum had completely disappeared.  Thankfully eardrums recover and come back over time but if the battery had not been removed it could have caused hearing loss, pain, and infection.

In the end, Louis fully recovered and learned to not stick anything in his ears again.  It’s still unknown how or why he decided to hide a watch battery in his ear, but that’s just kids for you!

Have You Ever Spotted THIS Small Hole Above Someone’s Ear? THIS Is The Strange Reason Why It’s There!

image via – facebook.com

If you have ever noticed that somebody has a tiny hole above their ear, that looks like it could be a misplaced dimple, you may have just thought that it was from some weird type of piercing. However, what you actually spotted is a body feature that is a naturally occurring mutation in some humans. And while the little hole is not all that common in The United States, it is more prevalent than you’d imagine it to be!

Those tiny holes are best known as preauricular sinuses and they are located right around the junction where the top of the external ear cartilage meets the face. They are considered a birth defect and get passed down from one generation to the next and so on..

The tiny holes can show up on 1 or both ears, with the right ear being the more common site. Usually they are harmless, but just like any other types of sinuses, they can sometimes become infected and require treatment and antibiotics. Some may also form cysts and in rare cases draining or removal is the best option.

Why the holes are there in the first place and for what purpose remains mostly quite the mystery. The video mentions an interesting theory put forth by Neil Shubin, an evolutionary biologist, who thinks that these holes could very well be an ‘evolutionary remnant of fish gills left over’. It’s an interesting theory and makes complete sense, but there could just as easily be another explanation for the strange holes!

The chances of a person being born with a preauricular sinus dimple varies across geographical and ethnic lines. Researchers in Korea found that the small dents are most common among Asian and African populations, where between 4-10% of the population may have them.

In comparison, less than 1% of Americans and people born in the U.K. are affected, which is way less. In Ethiopia, these small holes are considered lucky to have because they’re believed to bring people abundance, riches, money and wealth!

If you didn’t know what those strange ear holes were before, now you know the basics about the auricular sinus. Please pass this article on and help pass it along so that more people can learn about them and be informed!

For Years He Couldn’t Hear Because Of A Monster Blockage Of Earwax. When Removed It’s Oddly Satisfying!

image via – facebook.com

Oh the sweet satisfaction this man must feel at the end of this video! How many years did he live with this monster residing in his ear? How long was he unable to hear the delicate sounds of nature, how many times did his partner have to hear him say “what?” when he couldn’t hear a thing she was saying?

What relief he must feel now that the horror that lived in his ear is gone, an opportunity to hear the world once more.. Why is it that we love to watch disgusting videos? The bigger the pimple, the longer the ingrown hair, the more we want to watch it – often times repetitively. ”

It’s the same kind of thrill people get from, say, riding a roller coaster or bungee jumping – it activates the experience the typically comes with a real kind of danger while actually being protected from the harmful effects typically associated with those situations,” says Daniel Kelly, author of Yuck!

The Nature and Moral Significance of Disgust. “Disgusting things tend to capture the attention pretty easily, and (surprisingly) it’s been found that people are more likely to pass along and tell their friends about something that’s disgusting versus something that isn’t.”

Nina Strohminger, author of The Hedonics of Disgust points out that “negative sensations are interesting, particularly when you’re in a context where they can’t hurt you. Sit back relax and feel the odd satisfaction of a man relieving the blockage in his ear! Enjoy the video!

Don’t try this at home!
