When Amy and Michael Howard from Center Moriches, New York found out they were expecting triplets, the couple was over the moon. The new parents to be were excited and while they knew generally what to expect, they were totally unprepared for just how much their lives were about to change.
As soon as Amy gave birth in October to the three boys, both she and Michael could tell right away that something was wrong with them. The newborns, Hunter, Jackson, and Caden, all had misshaped heads due to a condition known as craniosynostosis. Infants born with the condition have skulls where the bones have been prematurely joined together inside the uterus, which can lead to an underdeveloped brain and misshapen head. If not corrected early on, the malformation can possibly lead to limited brain function. The Howards thought that since the triplets were crowded in the womb, it had led to the problem, and that now the boys were out they would begin to develop normal head shapes.
Doctors who examined the babies were baffled and astounded by what they found. On average, 1 in 2,500 babies are born with craniosynostosis, but for all three triplets to have it the odds are seemingly impossible at 1 in 500 trillion! Nevertheless, the babies had it and doctors broke the bad news to the couple that all three needed surgery to correct the condition.
When the boys were just nine weeks old, they all underwent the first ever craniosynostosis operations performed on triplets. Thankfully all of them turned out well with no complications and after two days in the hospital the boys were able to go home. They still had a long road to recovery ahead and had to wear special helmets 23 hours a day, seven days a week, for six months to ensure proper skull development.
By the time Hunter, Jackson, and Caden were over a year old, they had all developed normal shaped heads. They had also reached important developmental milestones without any issues and were normal, healthy babies who had managed to overcome the condition they were born with. While the odds were astronomical and never seen before, the outcome was thankfully better than anyone could have expected!

Hiring a babysitter is an arduous task and one that most mothers have to deal with. Maybe mom is returning to work or wants to go on a date night. She has to find someone who she can entrust with the safety of her precious child. For one couple, this proved more difficult than normal.
Arizona couple Chris and Whitney were happily raising their baby Raley. Chris was working full time and Whitney wanted to go back to law school. They knew that they would need to hire a nanny so Whitney could pursue her dream. They looked and looked but repeatedly came up short in the search for a suitable nanny.
Then, a voice from Whitney’s past reached out. Melissa, a fellow high school classmate of Whitney’s, reached out after seeing Whitney’s post of Facebook. Whitney did a background check on Melissa and saw only positive things. They met and the job was arranged
A few weeks later, Whitney and Chris noticed a change in their child’s behavior. She seemed more skittish and anxious. She also would hide behind Whitney whenever Melissa came over. The couple sensed something was wrong but couldn’t prove it.
Chris and Whitney decided to hide a secret camera to check in on the nanny. They left one night with the camera hidden. When they came back, they dismissed Melissa and checked the camera. It had clearly been moved as it was now facing the wall.
Whitney took the camera and began to review the footage. She was shocked by what she saw. The couple watched in horror as Melissa violently shook and pushed their daughter on the screen. Quickly, they formulated a plan. They called Melissa over to watch their kid that night. When she arrived, she was greeted by the local police.
Thankfully, she was now in custody. It’s hard to imagine that these horror stories could actually happen to you, but it only goes to show careful we need to be when letting strangers into our lives.

THIS Teenage Girl Is Actually Severely Allergic To Air. THIS Is The Unthinkable Way She Stays Alive!

Most people have experienced some sort of allergy over the course of their lives. Even if you are not severely allergic to nuts or bee stings, tree pollen and other types of seasonal allergies likely aggravate your sinuses and cause your eyes to water and itch. As uncomfortable and annoying dealing with allergies can be, imagine being allergic to just about any and everything in the air. For one fifteen year old girl from Maine, that nightmare is a reality.
She was living a normal life just two years ago, but one day Martina Baker woke up and was shocked to see that her body was covered in red itchy hives. They were even in her throat and so her mother rushed her to the hospital where she was treated and released.
From that point on Martina kept having recurring allergic reactions but what was causing them remained unknown. She found herself in the hospital several times a week for months on end and despite visiting numerous doctors, specialist after specialist could not tell her what the issue was.
When an immunologist from Massachusetts diagnosed her as having Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, or MCAS, Martina finally had the answer she was looking for. Now she could finally understand her condition, deal with it properly, and hopefully get her life back to as normal as could be. MCAS is an illness that causes people to become allergic to virtually anything in the air that is not oxygen. There are hundreds of different scents and smells that will trigger an episode, including cooking oil, smoke, perfumes, water and heat.
Since her diagnosis, Martina has changed her lifestyle drastically. She wears a face mask most of the time and especially anytime she goes outside or in public, which is rarely. Having such a severe condition has also led to her losing a lot of friends, it’s hard for them to understand and has left her isolated. Her family has had to adapt too, they now cook outside a lot, don’t do laundry with detergents, and only use vinegar to clean.
After awhile Martina started to become depressed and forlorn. Her life had been turned completely upside down out of the blue and she couldn’t even leave her house without fearing a severe allergic reaction. When her mother heard about a service dog program that trained dogs to detect the release of histamine in the body and thus warn their owner of an imminent allergic reaction, she knew it was exactly what Martina needed. The only thing that stood in the way was the high cost of such a specially trained dog, they were $10,000.
Knowing that the dog could save Martina’s life in more ways than one, her family set up a GoFundMe page to help offset the cost and spread the word. Soon after they had raised the money and now Martina has her service dog, a boxer mix named Kiva.
When Kiva first arrived, she was accompanied by a trainer who helped Martina and her new dog understand one another. Now when Martina is about to have an allergic reaction Kiva will kiss her around the mouth and physically prevent her from walking into the allergen.
At night Kiva checks on Martina, even when she’s sleeping, and knowing that her dog is by her side and constantly on the alert has made all the difference in the world for everyone in the family. Perhaps the most meaningful thing of all to come out of this is the friendship that Kiva and Martina have quickly developed.

Dogs are amazing creatures. We adore the dogs we own. This is a priviledge that not all canines receive. Sometimes, we forget about all the poor puppies that are treated badly. This story is not about us. It’s about a couple who did recognize a dog in poor conditions and the lengths they went to to protect it.
They first noticed something wrong as soon as they arrived in the house. The neighbor had a concrete yard for a backyard. The couple’s neighbors kept their golden retriever outside attached to a chain. The dog clearly was not a fan of the setup.
The retriever expressed its dissasitsfaction and despair through moans and crying. The owners despised the sounds the dog made and decided to do something even more cruel. They taped the dog’s mouth shut. Not only was it uncomfortable, it was also making breathing difficult for the dog.
When the couple saw this, they couldn’t handle it. They called the police who did nothing. So the couple did the unthinkable: they climbed the fence to their neighbor’s yard and removed all of the various restrictive bindings from the dog. They brought it back to their yard and decided to raise it in conjunction with their previously owned dog. The retriever was certainly lucky to have such empathetic and brave people around to see its plight and rescue it. They were the true heroes.

Having children is probably the most fulfilling life event for any adult living on earth. That incredible moment of bringing new life into the world and starting a new family is absolutely amazing. For anyone who has experienced birthing a child or being a parent of a new baby can attest to this fact. Almost immediately upon bringing a child into the world, you’re entire life paradigm changes from caring about yourself first and foremost to now caring for your child above everything and anything else including yourself!
In today’s interesting story we feature a Married couple named Donna and Vince Alymer from Gloucester, England. Donna is 45 years old and her hubby Vince is 55 years old. Donna works at a warehouse full time while Vincent works as a scaffolder. This couple has a beautiful family of 3 amazing kids but they would soon find out that Donna would be pregnant again at age 45! At first they were a bit taken a back by the big news of the pregnancy but after that initial shock wore off they became super excited about the new little angel who would be added to their already amazing family.
They went to get an ultrasound hoping to get the good news that the baby looked and sounded healthy and possibly they may even be able to find out the gender of soon-to-be baby. They got home and told their 3 children George, China and Jordan that they were about to have not 1 but 2 new little siblings. The children were so excited while mom and dad were a tad nervous but at the end of the day realized that these new twins were a complete blessing and they were so thankful.
It was a beautiful sunny but chilly day on January 16, 1997 when mama gave birth to her fraternal twin baby girls. The birth went very smooth and both babies came out healthy. They all breathed a sigh of relief after knowing they were very healthy with no underlying health conditions which can be an issue with mom’s who give birth in their late 40’s. The doctors brought the babies in for mom and dad to meet them and make their first impressions….
They were a bit taken a back because the fraternal twins couldn’t look more different than they did. The first baby girl named Lucy was very fair skinned, had bright red hair and blue eyes. The second baby girl named Maria was the exact opposite with a dark complexion, dark hair and brown eyes. If a stranger were to set eyes on the two baby girls it would be unimaginable to even think they were related let alone fraternal twins!
Either way the family didn’t care how different they looked, they were both little angels and a blessing no matter what other people thought of them.

Dealing with the division of property after a loved one passes is always a difficult yet frustratingly necessary part of death. There are so many assets to organize and distribute that the recipients sometimes forget the true value of the objects in relation to the passed love one. One woman was involved in one such process. However, in the midst of it, she discovered an incredible secret!
When Alexandra’s mother passed away, she was drawn back to her childhood home. She knew she didn’t want to move in as she was already happy living in her own place. She also wasn’t entirely emotionally ready to sell it either. She decided to compromise. She rented the home out and only stopped by occasionally to do repairs and just generally check in on the place.
It was on one of these such visits that Alexandra noticed something odd. The floor in the basement was in terrible shape. She hired some contractors to fix it up. While they were working, a hole formed in the floor. They called Alexandra down to look at it. She gasped when she looked inside.
Alexandra had always heard whispers that her house was a part of the underground railroad. She had always suspected it might be true, but she never had any proof. Seeing the hole, Alexandra finally had the proof. The contractors asked her if she wanted to fill the hole. She refused and actually installed a door over it. She plans to eventually give tours of it. How lucky that she was able to find such a beautiful gift from her mother how had passed.

It had been a long day of running around doing errands when Heather Duckworth finally got home. As she walked up the steps on her front porch, she was immediately greeted by the sight of children’s shoes strewn about haphazardly in a pile by the front door. A wave of emotions washed over her as she thought about what all the shoes meant.
The mother of four snapped a quick picture and later wrote on her blog that the pile of shoes meant that her kids were home and their friends were over. They were inside hanging out either listening to music, playing video games or air hockey, watching shows, and most likely eating all her food! However, they also symbolized so much more than the obvious.
Those shoes represented the memories and realization that this would be the last summer before her oldest children went off to college. After 18 years of raising them, protecting and making sure they were safe, and teaching them the ways of the world, they were moving out. As Heather thought back to all the years that had passed by, the memories came flooding back. She felt nostalgic and sentimental, happy and sad, worried but hopeful.
Rather than get stuck on the overwhelming feelings of loss she had towards her children moving out, Heather chose to view the bittersweet moment as a sign that she should be thankful for the present. She knew she should be grateful for having such great kids who were going places and to enjoy her time with them while she could. She wrote that she simply wants to live in the moment and be happy, which is what her children would want her to do.

Teaching young children is no easy job and after a hectic day of chasing after her first grade students, Keller Sutherland was questioning her choice of career. As she left Ellen Woodside Elementary School in South Carolina, she wondered if she was truly getting through to her students or even making a difference. At least her usual Wednesday afternoon meetings had been cancelled and so now she had extra time to rest and relax.
As she drove down busy highway U.S. 25, she noticed a young boy riding his bike in and out of traffic without a helmet on. Since there was no shoulder or median, this was not a safe road for anyone to bike on, let alone a little kid. While other drivers were passing him, they were not slowing down much at all. Concerned for the child’s safety, Keller turned around as soon as she could and when she pulled up alongside him, she recognized the boy as one of her old students.
Seven year old Cameron Simoncic had been in her class the previous year. He’d always been very well behaved which made her wonder why he would be out on the busy highway all alone, surely he knew better than to act so recklessly. When she called out to him, he stopped and after asking him what he was doing he told her that he was going to his grandmother’s house. Keller asked him if his father knew where he was and Cameron said no, so she told him to tell her what was going on.
That’s when Cameron told her that his father was a diabetic and had had an episode. When he walked in the door after school, he had found his dad lying unconscious on the kitchen floor. Cameron had tried to call 911 but his dad’s cell phone was locked and so he ran to several of the neighbor’s houses but none of them were home. Since his grandma lived 5 miles away, he decided to race over there to get help but that meant he had to ride on the busy highway.
Upon hearing that his dad was having a diabetic episode, Keller called 911 immediately and had Cameron give them his address. When emergency services responded they found his father and gave him insulin shots which helped stabilize him. Soon after Keller and Cameron arrived back at the house and she offered his father some crackers she had left over from lunch to snack on and help stabilize his blood sugar levels. Thirty minutes later he was back to normal and speaking clearly with the EMTs, so they cleared him and left.
Afterwards, Keller had a renewed sense of purpose and was no longer left questioning her career as she had been earlier that day. Her students needed her, and she would always be there for them no matter what. In the wake of Cameron’s story, the school also began teaching students how to make emergency phone calls on a variety of cell phone types. That way they can get help even if they are locked out of a cell phone and will be familiar with what to do.
