Husband and Wife Purchased THIS Beautiful But Abandoned Estate Then They Discovered The Hidden Secret In The Backyard!

image via – youtube.com

In the 1970’s Jane and Steven Frye met and fell in love while studying pottery in art school.  Soon after they graduated, they got married and then moved to Elk Falls, Kansas where they bought a house in the small, quaint town.  It was there that the couple set up shop and began their own business, Elk Falls Pottery, where they made all sorts of ceramic goods. Business was good and they became well known throughout the Midwest for their well-made, hand crafted, high quality pottery.

In 2004 the couple were in the market for a larger property and wished to expand both their house and their business.  When they came across Maude Frakes estate, they jumped at the chance to buy it. Comprised of a house, barn and a couple of outbuildings on 600 acres of land, the estate was big and exactly what they were looking for.  There was only one problem; it had been sitting vacant for decades and was in a state of complete disrepair.

Originally built in 1896, Marian and Maud Franks had bought the house in 1904 and lived there happily for years until Marian died in 1930, at which time Maude turned into a local philanthropist of sorts.  She would hire farmers and others down on their luck during the Great depression, employing them to make ornate stone and concrete sculptures which she placed throughout the gardens on the property. By the time she was done there was folk art and ceramic sculptures scattered all over the estate.

Most of the sculptures are of elephants, Maude absolutely loved them and incorporated them into just about everything.  There were an estimated 1500-1800 elephant statutes, from ones climbing on stone trellises to others carved into trees and stones, there was even one that sprayed water into the swimming pool with its trunk.  In 1954 Maude passed away, the house was boarded up and sat vacant for years. Nature started to reclaim the gardens and statutes while the house slowly fell apart.

Once the Frye’s came onto the property the first thing that they did was dismantle all the destroyed buildings and use the wood to help rebuild the house and barn.  It was during this construction that they found something in the yard that they took to the Grassroots Art Center in Lucas, Kansas to have checked out.

The Art Center’s experts believe that the rounded statute is among one of the first pieces of folk art ever made by a woman in the state of Kansas.  They also uncovered rare stones and fossils, benches, tables, a tipi, and gazebo, all made out of stone.

The artwork is what first drew the Frye’s to the estate and after finding so many special and unique features throughout it, they decided to expand their business even further.  They turned it into Elk Falls Pottery and Bed and Breakfast, so now anyone who wishes can stay there and check out all the interesting artwork.

3-Year-Old Spoiled Little Brat Wouldn’t Listen To His Grandad. But What He Did In The Parking Lot STUNNED This Stranger!

image via – youtube.com

Going to the store with a young child can be very stressful.  While many kids are oftentimes well-behaved for the most part, everyone has their moments.  Sometimes younger children become restless and act up, which seems to be especially true while out grocery shopping.  There is so much to do and see at the supermarket that they get easily wound up and excited. They wander off, run around, grab food they want and throw noisy tantrums if they don’t get their way.

Such was the case when one man stopped off at the supermarket with his 3 year old grandson to pick up some groceries.  The young boy who was acting very bratty, crying and screaming as they made their way up and down the aisles. When they passed by the candy section the boy grabbed all sorts of chocolates and demanded that he be allowed a treat.  In the cereal aisle the boy cried over all the sugary cereals he wanted, but his grandfather told him he could not have any.

While the pair were perusing the aisles a fellow shopper happened to be nearby them the whole time.  She couldn’t believe the way in which the older man was handling his grandson, he was so calm and composed, and kept saying “Easy William, we won’t be long.  Easy boy.” Most parents or adults would have eventually lost it and grown fed up with the kid, but not this man.

When they went to check out the little boy spotted all the candy bars and sodas near the register and of course he demanded some.  After hearing that he couldn’t get any, his behavior worsened, and he began throwing things out of the cart. The man simply told the boy to take it easy in a calm, relaxed tone and paid for his things.  Everyone nearby could not believe that he wasn’t disciplining the screaming child as they stared on in disbelief.

Once the man and his grandson got outside, the child seemed to immediately calm down a bit.  The woman who had been behind them the whole time passed by in the parking lot while the grandfather was loading his groceries in the car and felt that she had to say something.  She went up to the man and said that while she knew it wasn’t any of her business, she was impressed with how calm he was able to stay. Then she said that William was very lucky to have a grandfather like him who could remain so cool and composed.

Upon hearing this, the older man started to laugh, which baffled the woman.  When he finally stopped laughing, he thanked the woman and told her that his name was William, the little boy’s name was actually Kevin.  It turned out that he had been telling himself to keep calm and that it would all be over soon while Kevin threw his noisy tantrum. He explained that he needed to tell himself this as a reminder that home sweet home was within reach and then he’d no longer have to deal with the bratty kid because his parents would take care of him.

The woman burst out laughing once she heard this and told the grandfather that even though he had been talking to himself, she was nonetheless still impressed at how calm he’d been throughout the whole thing!

Apparently THIS Is The Simple Life Hack To Fix Any Broken Zipper That Won’t Close!

image via – youtube.com

A broken zipper can wreak havoc and make life difficult in different ways. It can cause your favorite pair of jeans to become unwearable, render clothes useless, and leave you in a last minute bind when traveling. That’s the worst case scenario, when your jam packed suitcase won’t shut and your at the airport trying to check luggage.

Nightmares like this happen all the time and if hasn’t happened to you yet, it likely will one day. Instead of tossing articles of clothing or bags out, try fixing the zipper yourself. The repair method covered in this video will help if the problem your having is that the zipper won’t close when zipping from the bottom up.

The experts at UCAN Zippers USA guide us through the basic steps necessary to close a stubborn zipper, so follow along closely because this may come in handy one day! When a zipper stops zipping, it’s usually caused by the slider part wearing out because of all the repetitive pulling back and forth on it.

You will need to clamp down on the mouth of the slider, on both the front and back sides of it, so that it grips and grabs the teeth as you slide it along. If done right, this will bring the sides of the zipper together smoothly and thus close it as you go.

All that you need to do is take a pair of pliers and clamp them down on one side of the mouth of the slider. Go easy, don’t apply too much pressure, and test it out as you go to see how it slides. If it’s still not working, clamp down with the pliers on the other side of the slider and try it again.

Be patient and keep pressing the pliers onto the sides of the slider mouth until your finally able to close the zipper. That’s it!

To see exactly how it’s done and for heaps more insightful information on all things zippers, check out the video and you’ll never get your zipper stuck again!

8-Year-Old Kid Went Missing and Disappeared For 7 Months. But Then a Hiker Accidentally Stumbles Upon an UNTHINKABLE Clue!

image via – youtube.com

Today’s story begins in a small town in Arizona. Vicki was 8 years old at the time. On a fateful September day, she arrived home from school. She asked her mother if she could bike to a nearby mailbox to send a letter to her aunt.

Now, while this might seem like a small request for many, for Vicki’s mother this was a very big deal indeed. She was a strict mother and always made sure that her children never traveled alone. For some reason, on this particular day, she was feeling a little more relaxed. She decided it couldn’t hurt and gave Vicki permission. Vicki never came home.

After a little while, her mom noticed that Vicki had not returned. She sent her daughter Stephanie to investigate. Stephanie soon returned with the news that she had only found Vicki’s bike abandoned a couple blocks away. They immediately called the police.

As the news spread, eyewitnesses began to come forward. Multiple people had spotted a dark van around Vicki’s school that day. Others claimed they saw the same car much later with a child inside. A teacher had written down the license plate and reported it to the police.

After running the license plate, the police identified a possible suspect: Frank Jarvis Atwood. He had a history of kidnapping and child molestation charges. At the time of the current investigation, Atwood was living in California on parole. They quickly located the man and brought him in for interrogation. After examining his car, police discovered traces of paint from Vicki’s bike on the front of Atwood’s car.

While he was arrested for suspicion of kidnapping, no one ever knew what really happened to her. A hiker eventually found a skull in the desert that turned out to be hers. The rest of her body was missing either from animal disturbance or a more chilling fate.

He Holds His Wife’s Hand While Taking His Last Breath But The Daughter Spots Something Odd Leaving Her STUNNED!

image via – youtube.com

You’ve probably heard the statistic saying that 50% of marriages end in divorce. While this remains true, it focuses far too much on the negative. Most don’t think about the fact that 50% of marriages last. This is the story of one such marriage.

Floyd and Violet Hartwig first met in grammar school. For their childhoods and teenage years, they were good friends but never anything more. After school, Floyd joined the Navy. The two friends fell out of touch. It was only upon his return that things began to change.

When Floyd got back, the two reconnected. Initially, their friendship reverted to normal but soon, they realized that they wanted more. They began dating and when Floyd returned to the Navy, they wrote letters back and forth. Floyd waited as long as he could, but couldn’t bear the idea of not being with Violet anymore.

Floyd left the Navy for good this time. The two immediately wed. The happily married couple moved to eastern California where they bought a ranch. They set about raising a beautiful family. In total, they had three children and they were proud of each one.

Together, the two were entirely content. After many idyllic years together, they realized that their time together would soon come to an end. Floyd was suffering from kidney failure and Violet had debilitating dementia. Their kids helped transfer them to the hospital and even pushed their beds together so they could hold hands.

Surrounded by their 3 kids, 4 grandkids, and 5 great-grandkids, Floyd soon passed. Only 5 hours later, Violet passed as well. While sad, this passing was ultimately a final gift for the couple as they were able to go out together just as they had spent their entire life beforehand.

I’ve Never Heard a Baby Sloth Before. When This One Started Making Noise I Spit My Drink Out!

image via – youtube.com

There are a ton of adorable videos online that feature wide eyed sloths. The slow moving creatures are loved by lots of people the world over, and it’s easy to see why. They are always well behaved and very gentle, docile, and non-aggressive in their mannerisms and movements.

Sloths also make the cutest noises and if you haven’t hear what they sound like yet then you have to check out this video from YouTube channel Slothville TV. The video shows several sloths, including baby ones and grown up adults. They all make the cutest noises that seem to be quite appropriate and in line with their slowness.

It sounds almost like they are crying out in exasperation at how hard and annoying moving a few inches seems to feel like for them. The tiny newborn ones make a more squeaky, high pitched noise and it sounds like a cry that a baby animal would make.

As a point of comparison, the noises they produce are almost exactly like the sounds people make when they are not into something, or grunt halfheartedly, kind of like a “meeahh.” However, when it’s coming from a little crawling sloth’s mouth it’s 100x more cute and precious, by far. Sloths got their unflattering name due to the fact that they move so slowly.

However, they are built for this and are not the lazy, sluggish, lethargic mammals that we often view them as. Sloths only move when necessary because they need to conserve as much energy as possible due to their diet consisting of mainly leaves. Leaves provide little energy and are hard to digest.

Which is why sloths have specialized stomachs that slowly break down leaves and it often takes them a month or more to digest the contents of their stomachs completely. Other ways they conserve energy include low metabolic rates and low body temperatures, and of course, slow paced movements.

Enjoy the video below! This is guaranteed to make your day! 🙂
