Whenever you fly you have to pass through airport security first and any belongings that you wish to bring on the plane with you must be screened and checked over. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) are the ones who set the rules for what can and cannot be brought on an aircraft and the list seems to always be changing.
Most people know about the liquid container rule, that no bottles with liquids over 3.4 ounces are allowed, but smaller travel sized ones are ok. There are also obvious things that are absolutely banned, such as guns, brass knuckles, pepper spray, num-chuks and throwing stars (yes, people have tried). However, there are some things that aren’t allowed which may surprise you. For example, magic 8-balls fall afoul of the 3.4 ounce liquids rule, cast iron skillets can be used as weapons, and certain types of paints are flammable and therefore banned.
While it’s always best to check ahead to make sure you can bring questionable items on the plane with you, that’s not always possible and sometimes the most innocent and unlikely items end up getting confiscated and thrown in the trash.
When Ivelise Hernandez headed to the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport in Florida to catch a flight she headed straight to the security line. Her boyfriend Rico had driven her and was accompanying her until she passed through when they noticed that a man up ahead was taking longer than usual. He was being held up by TSA security who refused to let him go through with a small package he was clutching. He was arguing with them and clearly frustrated, but eventually the TSA agents forced him to throw the item in the trash. They wouldn’t even let him bring it to lost and found where he could try to claim it later and have it sent to him.
Watching on, Ivelise and Rico saw that the man was practically in tears as he discarded the package in the trash bin. Wanting and being able to help since her boyfriend wasn’t going through security, she told him to get the item out of the trash. A couple hours later she had landed and immediately called Rico who told her that he’d found the item and unwrapped it. What it turned out to be was a beautiful bespoke snow globe that contained a picture of a little girl and her dog on one side and an older couple on the other. Engraved on the bottom were the words “We love you Katie Nana & Papa 1/25/2016.”
Seeing that the snow globe clearly held sentimental value, Ivelise decided to try and track down the owners. She uploaded a picture of it to Facebook where it quickly went viral and was shared over 48,000 times. Eventually a woman who worked at a gift shop called “Things Remembered” saw it and sent the picture to the company headquarters in hopes they could locate the order and match it with the owner. Her idea worked, the company found who placed the order and that was Linda Modry.
Linda had ordered the snow globe for her 5 year old granddaughter Katie and the girl’s dad was supposed to deliver it, but TSA made him throw it out. Linda happened to live nearby so she got in touch with Ivelise and Rico and made plans to stop by their place. She arrived with a bouquet of flowers in hand and told them that the globe was a present for Katie’s birthday and the date inscribed on the bottom was the date of her adoption.
Once she had the snow globe, Linda called her granddaughter to let her know and the girl was over the moon happy. As for Ivelise, the positive feedback she received for helping a stranger was unexpected yet wonderful. She’s also pregnant now and will no doubt be a great mother!

Food allergies seem to be popping up more and more within the human population. Whether it’s a gluten allergy, lactose intolerance or a nut allergy it seems like almost everyone you meet has at least one of these allergies. Now this is a bit of an exaggeration but almost 8% of kids under 18 years old have at least 1 food allergy.
This has caused a massive increase in awareness among restaurants, schools, hotels and just about anywhere you can grab some food. Many of these places just doing a full ban on foods such as peanuts, shellfish and tree nuts. These 3 and the following are the most common food allergies in kids: wheat, milk, soy fish and eggs.
Even with these proper precautions in place, food providers being vigilant, careful and following exact protocol, accidents can still easily happen. Although the majority of the food allergies are the ones named above, some people have more rare food allergies that they may or may not even know about until it’s too late.
This being said, many older kids and adults are aware of their food allergies and if they accidentally consume a food that contains their allergy trigger, they sense the signs and symptoms as they are coming on and know exactly how to proceed in order to avoid a tragedy. Some people carry Epi-Pens and/or other anti-allergy medications just in case. If they sense this is a really bad allergy attack they know when it’s time to call the EMS and hospital to get it treated properly before it is too late.
This brings us to younger children who really can’t grasp the concept of food allergy and rely on their caregivers and other trusting adults to give them the right foods that won’t cause an anaphylactic reaction. Many schools and their faculty are fully prepared just in case a student needs help immediately.
The problem is sometimes, adults forget or just don’t know that the child they are caring for has a food allergy. Which brings us to today’s story which features mom Deana Silveira and dad Thomas Silveira and their little 3-year-old son Elijah Silveira. Their young boy Elijah was attending the 7th Avenue Center for Family Services which provides care for children who are under the age of 4. Some of the perks of the center are tasty and healthy meals, care for kids with special needs and just an overall good environment for your child to spend the day.
On one morning in November something happened that nobody saw coming. Elijah was off to his Pre-K classes at the Family Services Day Care just like any other day normal day of his young life. The morning ran smooth, nothing was out of the ordinary until lunch time. One of the faculty gave Elijah a grilled cheese sandwich that fateful day in November. Allegedly the employee was aware of Elijah’s dairy and other food allergies but it must’ve just slipped their mind that day.
The child ate the grilled cheese sandwich and minutes later fell to the floor in anaphylactic shock! The center had a full protocol in place if this situation ever occurred. First, inject the child with an Epi-Pen, Call 9-11, do CPR if the child is unresponsive until the medics show up and finally call the child’s parent and let them know about what is happening!
For some reason that day in November none of the proper protocol was taken. Elijah wasn’t injected with an Epi-Pen, 9-11 wasn’t called, however all they did was call his mom Deana and told her to pick him up and bring him to a doctor or the hospital. His mother frantically ran out of the house, got to the center as soon as possible and drove her son to the hospital.
At the hospital the doctors and nurses tried everything they could, but because too much time had lapsed Elijah was beyond the point of no return. Elijah was pronounced dead at the hospital on that tragic and fateful day in November.
Next, an investigation began to try and piece together what happened that horrific day that led to this young boy’s untimely demise. Investigators quickly learned that all the protocols that were in place were ignored and that the center failed on every level! The Family Services Day Care Center was shut down indefinitely due to negligence and being the reason this family lost their child.
Elijah’s tragic story is a stark reminder that one simple mistake can lead to the death of a child.

Some people are adrenaline junkies and there is no better way to get that adrenaline flowing than a terrifying roller coaster ride at an amusement park. Every year millions of people flock to different amusement parks all around the world thrill seeking and trying to find that perfect ride! People are willing to wait on lines for hours under the hot sun just to take a 3 minute ride on an extreme and scary roller coaster that will make all the waiting totally worth while!
Sometimes rides can be designed to be so scary that they can actually be quite dangerous. In today’s story this is exactly what we will be covering. You’ve probably read about rollercoasters coming to a complete halt on the loop de loop while innocent passengers are suspended upside down for minutes and even sometimes for hours. Or maybe the freak stories where the carts fly off the track due to some type of fault in the tracks design or it is just run down!
These stories are enough for me to stay clear of any ride that could potentially put me in this precarious position. However thrill seekers from all around the world don’t seem the least bit worried when they hear about these malfunctioning rides and continue seeking out the most terrifying and scary rides they can find!
Many of these massive rides can take years to build from start to finish. First the blue print, then figuring out the physics, then somehow coming up with the money to build it, then the actual building process. Sometimes these epic rides can cost millions and millions of dollars to build, so after all that money and time is put into making the perfect ride for thrill seekers/adrenaline junkies it better not malfunction and it should run smoothly 100 percent of the time!
Many roller coasters actually have a certain life span regardless of if they malfunction or not. There are only so many times the carts and rails can handle the massive speeds, twists turns and weight of the passengers. Sometimes these rides are just shut down because they are too old, the nuts and bolts are just too worn down, and the amount of money to renovate the ride just doesn’t make financial sense. For the life a roller coaster this is probably the best way for it to end its career. No freak accidents, no fatalities, just worn out to the point of no return.
Sadly, this is not always the case with many of these wild rides. Sometimes these roller coasters will run perfectly for years until suddenly one day, a freak accident will occur whether, passengers get stuck upside-down for hours or even worse they fly off the rails at high speeds injuring and sometimes even leading to multiple fatalities.

15-Year-Old Spots Young Kid Crying Hysterically On The Bus. He Realizes The Truth and Hands Him Cash!

Starting off at a new school is always stressful no matter what age or how confident you may be. Whether going to first grade, middle school, high school, college, or moving to a whole new area, having to navigate your way through foreign buildings and hallways filled with new people on the first day of school is daunting. On top of being unsure of where you’re going, there’s the ever present social pressure of wanting to fit in overshadowing the whole experience.
High school tends to be the most anxiety inducing time in a person’s life. There’s so many changes going on all at once and teenagers don’t make it easy on one another. However, there are many kids out there who really care about their fellow students and who won’t hesitate to help someone in need.
Fifteen year old Tom O’Brian from Liverpool, England is one of the good kids. After the first day of classes he was taking the bus home from Holy Family Catholic School and chatting with friends and other students about their day. Tom soon noticed an eleven year old boy crying at the back of the bus and instead of ignoring him, he asked what was wrong. Explaining through tears, the boy told him how he had accidentally gotten on the wrong bus and was lost. He had no idea how to even get home and had no cell phone to call someone for help on him.
Tom and two of his friends quickly stepped in to help the younger boy out and they all got off the bus at the next stop. They were near one of the boy’s house, so they headed there to wait for a taxi they’d called to bring the lost eleven year old home. When the cab arrived the boy explained that he had no money to pay for it and without hesitating Tom gave him ten pounds to cover the fare.
A fellow student had overseen what happened on the bus and how the group of friends had rallied around the lost boy to help him out. When he got home, he mentioned it to his mother and she ended up posting about it on Facebook, saying that their thoughtful gesture had restored her faith in people. She mentioned that if anyone knew the boys or their parents to let them know that they’d raised a great child. The story spread and Tom’s sister eventually saw it and confirmed his identity. She also said that the school had called Tom to thank him and that he probably wouldn’t like all the attention for doing something that seemed so normal. If only more people shared his mindset the world would be a much better place.
In the end, the taxi driver even heard the story of what happened and dropped the fare money off at the school, saying that it should be returned to Tom. The lost boy eventually made it home safely as well and figured out the proper bus to take home. It just goes to show that stepping up and doing the right thing can be very easy and rewarding.

Terrified Orca Was Stranded and Desperately Crying For Help. But Then The UNTHINKABLE Occurs!

Killer whales are among the most powerful and deadly predators in the world. Few animals come close to matching their accuracy or killer instinct when hunting for food. Even a great white shark is no match for a killer whale. However, the one thing that can and will stop them is dry land. Their immense strength is rendered useless when they become beached or stranded on rocks, like the poor young orca in this video.
The female whale was left high and dry off the coast of British Columbia when an attempt to catch some tasty fish suddenly took a turn for the worse. As the tide went out in Hartley Bay she ended up stuck in a shallow pool atop a rock outcropping. It wasn’t very long before her entire body was completely out of the water and fully exposed to the elements. She couldn’t have picked a worse time to become trapped weather-wise, it was late July and the summer sun was beating down on her black skin, drying it out and sapping her energy. Without human intervention the killer whale would likely die before the tide returned.
Thankfully a man spotted her and immediately called for help. Local volunteers from the animal rescue group Gitga’at Guardians of Hartley Bay converged on the scene along with others from Cetacea Lab and the For Whales Organization. They had to find a way to keep the young killer whale as wet and cool as possible until the tide returned.
The group covered her body with ocean soaked sheets and capped her dorsal fin with a pillow case. They rigged up a water pump and hosed her down continuously throughout the day. All the while they worked as smooth and silently as they could, in order to help keep the whale calm and relaxed.
Even though she was only nine years old and relatively small, weighing in at an estimated 7,000 pounds, it was no small task keeping her wet, calm and cool for a continuous eight hours. If she freaked out she could have easily over exerted herself and suffocated to death.
A whale’s lungs are mainly supported by water and so when they’re not in the water it becomes very difficult to breathe because their immense size places a lot of pressure on the lungs. Every breathe she took was difficult but at some point during the rescue her breathing steadied and she’d finally relaxed.
When the tide finally came in and submerged her the rescuers quietly left and headed for higher ground. They wanted her to decide on the right moment to leave, it was the safest way for everyone involved, especially the whale. The young orca seemed to know freedom was close as she grew more and more vocal and patiently waited for the right moment to make a break.
Finally the water level was high enough and she shot off the rocks into the open water. The whale was free at last as she went swimming off into the distance to find her family. All the rescuers looking on whooped and shouted cries of relief, their efforts and hard work had paid off. They all have one incredible whale of a tale to tell now and it’s the best kind, one with a happy ending.

Strange Raven Squawked At Them For An Hour. Finally They Realized He Wanted The UNTHINKABLE!

Ravens are often overlooked and dismissed by many people for being noisy, annoying, pesky birds. They really don’t get the credit they truly deserve for being one of the most intelligent animals out there. In fact, they rank among the smartest animals in all of nature and are considered just as smart as our closest animal relative, chimpanzees.
Research backs this up, ravens have been scientifically tested and scored highly on intelligence tests where they even topped the avian IQ scale! Ravens have also been observed using various objects as tools. That type of calculated behavior is something associated only with intelligent animals, like the raven in this heart warming video!
The story behind what you see here all started when a woman from Nova Scotia heard a loud racket outside her home. Gertie Cleary couldn’t help but notice who was making the noise, a black raven fledgling was perched on the fence relentlessly screeching. She tried to ignore it but when the squawking didn’t subside she went out to take an up-close look at the bird.
With her daughter by her side, the pair slowly approached the distressed raven. Once they were close they saw what bothering it, the poor bird had porcupine quills stuck in his little body, three in the side of his face and one in his wing. If he was going to survive the quills had to be removed.
Gertie went back to the house, put on some gloves for protection, and headed back out to the raven. Slowly she began to earn his trust until she was able to softly stoke his feathers. Soon after she made her move and quickly pulled a quill out of the bird. Seconds later she pulled another one which caused the raven to caw out in pain. Even so, the bird remained on the fence and didn’t threaten her, it seemed to sense she was helping and meant it no harm. The last quill was the hardest, by that point the bird likely had enough, but with a bit more coaxing Gertie was able to quickly remove it.
The poor raven’s painful experience was over, he was free to fly away without being hindered by the sharp barbs poking into his body, yet he stuck around for the remainder of the day. Gertie and her daughter ended up naming him Wilfred but the next day he was gone.
The incredibly quick witted bird seemed to know exactly where to turn to for help and thankfully Gertie recognized his situation and took the time to remove the quills.

Researchers Release a New List of Common OTC Medications That Are Causing a High Risk of Dementia!

Many people think nothing of taking “over-the-counter” drugs on a regular basis, including non-prescription sleep aids and the antihistamine Benadryl (diphenhydramine). While previous research has found a link between prescription “anticholinergic drugs” and dementia, a new research study found a strong link between dosage strength of over-the counter drugs and the onset of dementia in people who had no signs prior to the study.
The research done at the University of Washington School of Pharmacy in Seattle, reported their findings in “JAMA Internal Medicine” in January. Anticholinergics block the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from being transmitted to the brain, and it is thought that this effect in medications containing this, contributes to the onset of dementia.
As you will hear in the video below, the study followed people, aged 65 and over, for 10 years. It was found, for instance, that taking 50mg of Benadryl and other first generation antihistamines daily for over 3 years or 25 mg daily for over 6 years, were at the most significant risk for dementia.
The most commonly used medications found in the 800 people who developed dementia (out of 3500) in this study were: Benadryl, Chlor-Trimeton (and other first generation anti-histamines); prescription tricyclic anti-depressants (doxepin or Sinequan) and meds for bladder control (oxybutinin, Ditropan).
For younger people on a constant dose of ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS, this study should serve as a warning, as it is unknown yet whether such use could cause early onset dementia. It is not advised that anyone discontinue any medication without speaking to their health care professional.
However, these results as well as others named in the VIDEO below, is important information for those on drugs that put them at higher risk for dementia. There are alternative drugs that are available that your doctor can discuss with you.

No matter what type of animal our pets may be, they all have their very own unique personalities and special quirks that set them apart. Whether it’s a hamster, cat, bird, lizard, or horse, the animal companions in our lives seem to always find a way to make us laugh and love them even more!
Lots of animals even end up taking on and adopting some very human-like traits. There are horses that sing and dance, parrots that talk, cats who can open doors, and the dog in this video who enjoys dancing to music alongside his owner!
The two were hanging out at home one afternoon just taking it easy, relaxing on the couch and enjoying each others company. The man was sitting in his boxer shorts perusing the web on his laptop and listening to music with his black and white dog by his side when a song came on that they both really liked.
That’s when things got interesting and it’s also when his wife came home unbeknownst to the lovable pair of couch potatoes! She whipped out her phone to secretly record the hilariously adorable sight that awaited her and what she captured is pure gold!
The man and his dog started to do a strange type of dance, moving their bodies and heads from side to side in unison. The moves are definitely all their own and judging by the looks they gave one another at the beginning of the clip, it seems as if they’ve done this before!
It’s hard to say which one taught the other how to couch dance but either way they clearly have a great time doing it. This dynamic duo proves that it’s the little things that make life awesome. On another note, how the wife kept herself from bursting out laughing is anyone’s guess!
