He Blows Hot Air On His Hummingbird Feeder With A Hair Dryer. Now Watch How The Bird Reacts..

image via – youtube.com

Hummingbirds are one of mother nature’s coolest creations and they hold quite a few interesting records in the bird world. Some species are among the smallest birds on earth, which explains why they also have the smallest nests and lay the smallest eggs.

Not only that, they also beat their wings the fastest, some up to 90 times per second! They also hold the title of eating the largest amount of food, since many need to consume at least half their body weight in food every single day in order to stay active and healthy. In turn, they have the highest known metabolic rate in the entire animal kingdom.

Plus, they have the ability to fly backwards, can change direction on a dime, and are lightning quick. All these traits and their beautiful, glittering feathers are what makes hummingbirds absolutely mesmerizing to watch. By their nature, they are very inquisitive, and if you put up a feeder they’ll be drawn towards it because their curiosity seems to always get the best of them.

Most hummingbird species in North America spend summers breeding in the Eastern states before heading south to winter in Central America. Some of them end up in Sedona, Arizona, home of the famous red rock formations and well known for its natural beauty.

The southwestern area is a place many wintering birds call home and it’s also where YouTube user Blueskeye lives. Blueskeye filmed an incredible interaction he had with a pair of hummingbirds and thankfully shared it so you can see just how adorable and sweet it truly was.

He explained the background of the story and wrote that back in February of 2011 Sedona was experiencing an extremely cold snap of winter weather. It was so cold that the nectar he put out to feed a pair of friendly hummingbirds kept freezing up within an hour of being outside.

To keep the hummingbird’s tummies full and the food from freezing up, he placed a heating pad underneath one of the feeders. When he checked on it the following morning he saw a lovely sight, the two tiny birds were sitting atop the heating pad and cozily drinking up their food!

Blueskeye named the pair of Anna’s Hummingbirds Rocky and Adrian, no doubt in homage to the characters in the award winning Sylvester Stallone film, Rocky. He and the two hummingbirds became very good friends. In fact, they were so close that little birds would sit on his hand while feeding and right next to him while he unfroze their food with a hairdryer!

The birds must have been really cold because Rocky even sat in front of the dryer so the warm air would blow on him. Most animals are scared of the powerful and strange rush of warm air they make, not to mention the loud noise, and many a cat or dog has been terrified by a dryer.

If you didn’t previously understand why people love and go out of their way to feed and attract hummingbirds, perhaps this video will show you why. The lively little birds are not only pretty to look at, they’re also very friendly and easily become accustomed to being around people.

After time many won’t hesitate to feed at flowers or nectar feeders located close to windows and houses. Support your local hummingbirds today and set up your own feeder. Then you can watch them play and interact with each other as they zip around!

Koko The Gorilla Has An Alarming Message For Humanity! This Gave Me Chills..

image via – youtube.com

Koko, the world famous western lowland gorilla, is weighing in on the state of Mother Earth in a message for all of humanity. In the heartbreaking clip she uses sign language to communicate her thoughts and feelings on climate change and mankind’s harmful effect on biodiversity and the environment.

The sixty second video starts off with her signing “I am gorilla… I am flowers, animals… I am Nature. Man Koko love. Earth Koko love. She continues on, changing her tone from one of love to one of urgency saying, “But man stupid… stupid! Koko sorry… Koko cry.  Time hurry! Fix Earth! Help Earth! Hurry… Protect Earth… Nature see you. Thank you.”

Koko, who is now 44 years old, has been learning sign language since the age of one. She is said to be able to understand over 1,000 signs of what her trainer, Francine Patterson, calls Gorilla Sign Language (GSL).

In addition, she was simultaneously introduced to spoken English at an early age and understands about 2,000 English words because of this. To truly understand Koko’s message, you have to know the backstory to this video and that it was scripted in part by both The Gorilla Foundation and NOE Conservation.

The French conservation association is primarily focused on preserving biodiversity, while the foundation supports Koko and is where she has lived for many, many years. They worked together to help promote and increase awareness of their message of conservation ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP21) that was held in Paris this past November 30 – December 12.

Her iconic status and extremely rare ability to communicate directly with people is why Koko was chosen by the two groups to act as an ambassador on behalf of endangered species everywhere. She was told about the events and informed of the issues surrounding the Paris discussions and then her reaction to it was captured.

According to a spokesman for The Gorilla Foundation, “We presented her with a script drafted by NOE and allowed her to improvise during a series of brief daily video discussion sessions. The result was edited from a number of separate takes, for brevity and continuity.”

In the end, it offers an eye-opening, powerfully symbolic take on all of the damage to the environment and the harmful effects that man has inflicted on the planet. Take a moment to listen and check it out.

THIS Lost Deer Is Walking On The Edge Of The Ocean. But Watch When THIS Giant Wave Comes In!

image via – youtube.com

The uniqueness of every creature on earth is part of the wondrous magnitude of life.  It is somewhat more obvious that human beings and domestic animals are products of both their genetics and environment, than with wild animals.

Although wild animals of a particular type, tend to live in similar environments, there are individual differences in their characters as well. This is well illustrated in the incredible footage you are about to view below.  We tend to see deer romping in the woods, so seeing a deer near the ocean is unusual in and of itself.

Watching this particular deer in this environment is nothing short of awesome. This beautiful, graceful animal first approaches this active body of water with some understandable timidity.  Within no time at all, it seems to comprehend the movement of the waves, and becomes a natural at riding the waves.

It bounds back and forth and through the exciting water as if the ocean was it’s natural environment. Captured by a filmmaker, Anthony Martin, this deer was filmed on the southwest coast of France; it seems that it actually is not uncommon to find deer living near a shoreline.

Maybe that explains this animal’s finesse in navigating the ocean’s waves.  One thing is for sure, the sheer joy in it’s encounter with this remarkable part of nature will make your day; it put a smile on my face and a feeling of wonder in my heart.

An Elephant Notices His Human Fall On His Face In Pain. How She Reacts The UNTHINKABLE!

image via – youtube.com

Elephants are among the most intelligent species of animals that walk the Earth’s surface. They are highly complex and extremely social mammals who live in caring, tight knit family groups. Many people know that an elephant never forgets, thanks to their incredible memories, but they are capable of so much more.

They cry, play, laugh, are self-aware, and express grief and compassion. When another elephant in the group passes away they all mourn the loss. They have also been observed grieving when a close human friend or caretaker dies, as was the case when Laurence Anthony passed in 2012.

Anthony was known as the “elephant whisperer” for his amazing ability at calming and reforming violent, traumatized elephants who were seen as pests in South Africa. By taking an interest in, and living among them while rehabilitating, the out of control animals, he saved their lives from certain death.

Shortly after he died, two separate and distinct herds of elephants made a miles long, 12 hour, non-stop journey to his home. They showed up and stayed for two days to pay their final respects to the man who had loved and saved them before heading back into the bush. Somehow, in their hearts or minds, they had sensed the loss of friend and wanted to say goodbye to him.

The strong emotional and unspoken bond that can develop between elephant and man can further be seen in this video. In it is an elephant named Thongsri who lives in Thailand with her human caretaker. She clearly cares a lot for her friend and when she noticed that he was being attacked by another man she rushed over to defend him.

It doesn’t matter whether or not her caretaker and the other man were play fighting, all she saw was that someone was potentially hurting her friend. The other man ran off as soon as he saw Thongsri coming at him. Then she flared her ears aggressively and stood guard over the caretaker while he crawled around on the ground.

No one in their right mind would continue to try and harm her friend, they’d likely get trampled in a second if they did! It’s just further proof of what amazing, sensitive, and special animals elephants are.

This Bird Adopts An Egg From The Supermarket. But What Hatches Is The UNTHINKABLE!

image via – youtube.com

The last thing anyone thinks about when they pick up a carton of eggs from the supermarket is that one could possibly end up hatching. Store bought eggs supposedly come unfertilized and in America they’re found in the refrigerated section. Even if one were somehow fertilized, without consistently warm temperatures, the cold would end any chances of life.

However, that string of logic did not play out in Japan when a girl brought home a carton of quail eggs. As it turns out, in Japan eggs aren’t refrigerated. Instead they’re sold at room temperature and can last up to a week or more because they have a layer that naturally protects them, but nevertheless they’re still unfertilized.

Which makes YouTube user Luna Angel’s story all the more mysterious. She says that she grabbed one quail egg from the carton and gave it to her parakeet, Pi-chan, to see what she’d do with it. The pretty bird’s motherly instincts took over right away and she roosted atop the egg keeping it warm and safe as if she had laid it herself.

Not long after, the egg miraculously and unexpectedly hatched and out popped the cutest, tiniest, and most adorable baby quail ever! The little fuzzy baby bird was named Yuzu and she can be seen in the accompanying video clip. She looks so sweet and innocent, especially since her black and yellow feathers make her look like a little fuzzy puff!

To see more of Yuzu, Pi-chan, and their fellow bird friends, check out Luna Angel’s channel. There is really nothing quite like a baby bird that can help lift your spirits and brighten the day, enjoy!

These Guys Were Just Walking On A Frozen Lake But When The Camera Pans Down My Jaw Dropped!

image via – youtube.com

Mere mortals can only dream of walking on water, but a group of hikers came close to doing exactly that. They walked on ice that was so crystal clear and smooth that it looked as if they were walking on water. Tomas Nunuk was trekking through Slovakia’s Tatras mountain range with some friends when they came upon a lake called Velke Hincovo Pleso.

The beautiful body of water is located 6,300 feet above sea level near the looming Koprovsky stit mountain. This isn’t just any old lake, it’s the deepest one in all of Slovakia, measuring 176 feet at its deepest point.

When the hikers reached the waters edge, a spectacular sight met their eyes. The surface of the lake was completely frozen solid but the ice was crystal clear, to the point that it was see through. There were no white spots or gas bubbles marring the clarity of the ice and the rocky bottom of the lake was perfectly visible in the shallow spots.

Thomas recorded the moment that he and his friend stepped out onto the ice and they can be seen gingerly walking across glassy surface. The video quickly went viral after he posted it online, with many people calling it beautiful, and others expressing skepticism about whether or not it was truly real.

The skeptics claimed the ice was too thin to hold the men and that ice that clear simply doesn’t exist in nature. Those claims were subsequently proven false by locals, weather experts, and science. A Slovakian man, Igor Ludma, explained that ice can look like glass “when the temperatures fall from being relatively mild to very cold very quickly, and at the same time it’s important that there has not been any snow which tends to make the ice very cloudy.

And we have had those conditions lately which would explain this very clear ice.” AccuWeather, a provider of weather forecast services worldwide, affirmed that Slovakia had experienced the type of weather conditions described by Ludma. In addition, when addressing the video in a post online, AccuWeather also cleared up the other issue surrounding the clear ice.

They added that according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, “clear ice is about twice as strong as white ice since it is much more dense…Ice looks cloudy and white when it has air bubbles due to thawing and refreezing.” Thus, the ice could have indeed held the men and exist in the first place at that time, in that area.

It seems to be that the lake ice that day was simply another one of mother nature’s beautiful and strange phenomenons. One thing is for certain, the footage of it is amazing and I’d love for the chance to be able to walk across a lake like that!

Would you walk across this ice? Let us know!
